Plasma TV Buying Tips

The popularity of plasma TVs is very high right now. This popularity is in part due to the high definition resolution of the TV picture being a wanted feature from the public. A less publicized feature is that a plasma TV can double as a computer monitor or come in the form of a modern day smart television as well. When it comes to smart plasma TVs, it is very important to get the right broadband package, for example TalkTalk business broadband, for maximum enjoyment. Likewise, playing computer games on a plasma TV has to be experienced to really appreciate it due to the screen giving magnificent graphic detail and very clear images, which takes the enjoyment of the game to a higher level.

On a plasma TV the colors look far more vibrant than you would see on other types of TV or monitors – which has to be seen to be believed. And of course, more vibrant color makes for a better picture and so TV viewing becomes more realistic – which is a big plus for film fans.

With the widescreen picture, higher contrasts, vibrant color along with pin-sharp images, plasma TV is getting much nearer to emulating watching a movie at a theater.

Remember traditional TVs looked like a big box that made a room look ugly. No such problems with plasma TVs. Typically, a plasma TV is 3 to 4 inches thick and can easily by mounted on a wall with a suitable bracket. Now there is no need to position your furniture around the traditional box TV. With a plasma TV mounted on a wall bracket, you can easily position a plasma TV for any viewing angle in the room. Some adventuresome people even mount their plasma TV over the bed on the ceiling!

Plasma TVs come in a range of screen sizes, the most common range is 20 inch up to 50 inch. Obviously, the bigger the screen size the bigger the price. However, the additional cost is worth the greater viewing experience with the larger screens. If you are thinking about setting up your own home theater system, then a plasma TV is what you need. Add on a good surround sound system and a bowl of popcorn and you are done!

The screen resolution also affects the price you pay for a plasma TV. The higher the resolution is, directly relates to how clear and sharp the picture is. But when you think about how much time you spend watching TV, the extra cost is worth it.

One piece of advice you should take notice of is buy a well known brand. Plasma TVs are a fairly recent technology. Major TV manufacturers such as Sony and Panasonic put a lot into their research and development of these TVs and so they for certain know what they are doing. If you look at the specifications of a model such as the Panasonic TXP42G10B, you will see how cutting edge this plasma TV technology is.

Of course, another reason to buy a well known brand is for the support should it ever go wrong. Little known TV manufacturers just do not put the effort into their after-sales service like the major brands do.

You will find many online resources to help you with plasma TV questions. As long as you look into all your options and then only buy a well known brand, you will not go far wrong with your plasma TV purchase.

This article seems to be outdated. Sony stopped making plasma TVs years ago. LED TVs give a substantially brighter image than plasma TVs, although plasmas produce deeper blacks, more natural colours and do not suffer from problems such as motion blur, clouding and backlighting issues. You won’t find a plasma screen smaller than 42 inches. 55 inches is a popular size.

For use as a computer monitor, a LCD/LED screen is a better choice, as it will produce pin sharp static images and won’t suffer from image retention.
