A Chinese company has created a device that converts iPods into iPhones. The gadget, known as Apple Peel 520, is made of a case that can fit around the outside of Apple’s iPod Touch, a battery, dock connector and Sim card, that makes it possible for users to make telephone calls after installing certain applications.
In addition, those users who are interested in sending and receiving text messages can install a program to enable this function. If installed properly, the Apple Peel device can last for up to 5 hours talk time and 120 hours on standby. The device inventor was quoted on CNN as saying that Apple Peel was created as the iPhone is “too expensive in China” hence the addition of text and phone calls to existing iPod functionalities which includes a media player, WiFi-enabled pocket computer with e-mail, maps and so on.
It is not yet known whether the product will be successful or not although there are plans for future mass productions once the company can confirm that there are no intellectual violations of property rights.

The whole point of this is for existing iPod touch users to buy something cheap that’ll transform their iPod to an unlocked gsm world phone. If you just wanted to buy a phone from the get go, you can just buy an iPhone 4 and unlock it. I don’t think many people are waiting to buy a new iPod touch to turn them into phones.

This sounds like a great device, but there is no doubt that Apple would be against this. What would SIRI think?

That’s a fraud! I am interested in this apple peel, Good luck to the company! Apple would surely take a legal action on the company.

Obviously, Apple is against this. Come on, it’s their invention that they’re manipulating. They even disallowed jailbreaking the iphones, Now this? I highly doubt that Apple will accept this.
