4 Laptop Issues You Cannot Ignore

Gone are the days when laptops were only meant for browsing. From online meetings to transferring big files and everything in between, laptops have become an essential part of many people’s lives today. So, when your laptop starts acting up, you cannot ignore it and hope everything will be fine again.

But you might be inclined to think that maybe it feels a little slower than usual, or there’s an annoying pop-up that won’t disappear. You might even think you can fix it yourself.

In some cases, this is true. But if you notice any of these four signs, you must take a call on the best course of action for repair. But first, the issues. Read on.

Frequent Slowing Down

Your laptop has become so slow that even basic tasks take forever. You might feel like you are using a computer from the 1990s, but it’s not just how long things take to load; your computer keeps freezing up or crashing completely.

Try restarting your laptop. If it doesn’t help, install antivirus software like AVAST that can check for viruses or malware.

Also, check the disk space on your laptop. If you have too many files, it can slow down your computer. You might also want to check for updates from Microsoft or Apple, which often include security patches that could improve performance or prevent crashes.

Blue Screen of Death

The Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) is a phenomenon that occurs when your computer crashes or freezes and then displays a blue screen with white text. This can happen for various reasons, including malware infections and corrupted files.

The BSoD is mostly harmless and will only stay on your screen for a few seconds. It’s a helpful piece of software that tells you what went wrong and how to fix it.

You might see this with Windows 10 or another operating system. If you see the BSoD when your computer crashes, try rebooting it. If the issue persists after rebooting, you may need to reinstall Windows 10 or another operating system.

The BSoD can also appear when the computer runs low on memory or your video card isn’t compatible with your graphics driver. If you own a MacBook and it is old, you can trade in your laptop for cash and invest in a new one. This should be your last resort, though.

Grid Lines or Dead Pixels on the Screen

If you have dead pixels on your screen, there’s not much you can do except replace it. You can fix those weird grid lines on your screen by cleaning the laptop’s vents and reinstalling the operating system.

You should consider getting a replacement screen if there are more than a few dead pixels.

You may be able to get a free repair from the manufacturer under warranty, but otherwise, replacing the screen will probably be your best bet. If your device is over five years old, it’s best to sell or trade-in your laptop for cash.

The Battery Does Not Hold a Charge for Long

If you don’t use your laptop and the battery still doesn’t hold a charge, there could be something wrong.

You may have to replace the battery altogether. If your device has less than one-and-a-half hours of battery life after a full charge, it may be time to consider getting a new battery.

Final Word

While most common laptop issues are repairable, it’s important to know when to let go. When the repair cost exceeds your laptop’s value, it’s time for a new one. If you want to trade your laptop, give us a holler today!
