Reliability of Office 365, In Terms of Security and Privacy

It is not easy to immediately trust cloud services in terms of security and privacy and that is the reason many people are still wary when it comes to storing their data in the cloud or even using cloud based services for that matter. Microsoft does understand this and is aware that it has to gain the people’s trust by providing a good service to its billions of customers. There are two types of security, compliance and privacy in Office 365; one is the built-in capabilities which include service wide, technical capabilities, operational procedures and policies that are enabled by default for customers using the service and customer control. The second being the feature that enables you to customize the Office 365 environment based on your specific requirements.

If you are a Office 365 customer you will be able to benefit directly from the in-depth security features that has been built into the services. This comes from years of experience gained building enterprise grade software, managing a number of online services and investing billions of dollars in security management. To make sure that they provide high data security they have implemented the technologies and processes independently.

Some of the key features of the built-in security are mentioned below:

  1. Physical security: The data centers are monitored round the clock in addition to which they have technology in place to protect the data centers from unauthorized access or natural disasters.
  2. Data Encryption: Customer€™s’ data are encrypted using a very strong encryption standard (AES) encryption known as BitLocker.
  3. Secure Network Layer: The networks are segmented which means that critical back-end servers are separated from the public-facing interface. In addition, the security level is high so that it is able to detect intrusions and signs of vulnerability.

Their second aspect to security is customer control. Some of the key features of this service include encryption features as well as identity and access features. The same principle applies for compliance and privacy, there are several in-built security features in addition to which they provide many customer control features to service users better. Thus, you can be rest assured that your data is safe in the cloud and that the Office 365 service is highly secure and safe to use.
