Mac Virus Attacks On The Rise

The recent discovery of two new forms of malicious programs in Mac OS X, has made security experts sit up and take notice. This viruses, it appears, targets the operating system through pornographic Websites. When users log on to the sites, they are into downloading a so-called “missing Video ActiveX Object”, which in reality is actually an updated “version of the Mac OS Tored worm – and a Trojan called OSX/Jahlav-C.

Although most virus attacks have been targeted at PC users, similar attacks on Mac computers are quietly on the increase. Although the total number of such viruses cannot be confirmed, one thing is certain, Mac owners can no longer afford to be complacent. Attackers are getting more sophisticated and devising new means of infecting Mac systems everyday so users need to be more conscious of possible risks and invest in quality Mac OS anti-virus software.

  2. Wow! This is really shocking. I’ve always thought that Mac OS was virus free! Seems like there are no laptop-notebook-computers which are 100% virus free now. Great posting!

  3. This is very interesting, I thought that Mac’s were the omnipotent computer and OS. It’s good to know that they are susceptible to the evils of viruses that PC users are vulnerable to as well.
