REVIEW: Lenovo G570 M51BHUK

The G570 laptops from Lenovo have a wide range of specifications. The appearance is more or less similar. Well built frame, a wrist rest that is dark brushed metal and a brownish black lid. The looks are stylish and the feel comfortable.

Keyboard:

The keys are not only well separated and spaced widely, they are curved and have little dimples in the middle, that make it extremely easy for you to type at a high speed, and with minimal typos. On the right side are the numbers, on keys so skinny, they would make a French model envious. The touchpad, which is under the spacebar, is not placed at dead center of the wrist rest. In spite of that, there is still enough space to type with your hands resting comfortably, and you would not be likely to touch the pad inadvertently. The touch pad is a tad teeny but still you can move your mouse pointer pretty decently.

Screen and Display:

The LED screen is smooth and glossy; this may be a little troublesome in some lighting conditions. The size is 15.6 inches and the resolution is 1366×768. HDMI and VGA ports are available so you can always output the video to bigger screens with better resolutions. The colors are vibrant and though at times there’s a slight lean towards yellow, it doesn’t really affect the pale tones.

Sound:

The in-built speakers are pretty alright for system sounds and the occasional YouTube video clip. If you’re looking for some symphony quality sound though, you will be disappointed; there’s no separation, no bass, and high frequency sounds will likely have a screeching effect.

Other specifications:

  • DVD Read write drive
  • USB Ports: 4
  • Fast Ethernet
  • 500 GB Hard Disk
  • 4GB RAM: you can dabble in Photoshop.
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-2350M, 2.3 GHz
  • Cache : 3MB
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi
  • Integrated Intel HD Graphics Processor will let you play simple 3D games at low quality settings but not meant for heavy gaming.
  • Battery Life: 5 hours, 21 minutes; not very exciting
  • Weighs 2.4 kg
  • Two memory slots, with one free
  • Integrated Webcam
  • Output for headphones and input for microphone is included.
  • Supports SDXC, MMC and Memory Stick Pro Memory Cards
  • The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-Bit
  • It has the ONEKEY Rescue System if your hard disk crashes, to recover your precious data fast, and with ease.

It is not very slim and portable as some of its competitors but the optical disk drive is something it has in its favor. Also the Lenovo Energy Management feature ensures that the battery‘s long term life is well protected. The Lenovo Enhanced Experience for Windows 7 incorporated in the laptop means that its RapidBoot feature lets you boot eh computer at least 20 seconds quicker than other similar laptops.

All in all it’s a highly affordable laptop, and efficient too; it takes care of niggling worries so you can do what you want to do. It is definitely recommended as a value-for-money- buy

Great value for money. WiFi gives good response even with a weak signal. Purchased for internet surfing and home office use. Does the job very well. Nice screen display.

  2. Lenovo laptops are not too good in providing a theater like ambiance to its movie or audio watchers. But, on the contrary I love the performance of this brand of laptops for their sensible behavior and no hanging up issues during my peak hour work. So I don’t really care for the entertainment related aspects to the Lenovo laptops except that it is a bonus if there was an ideal audio output system.

I can add that the keyboard feels very good. Also I would like to note that I’ve tested the Lenovo G570 keyboard on 10 fast fingers website, and compared to HP Envy I am writing much faster on the Lenovo. Lenovo score was 100 words per minute, while Envy score was 88.
