How to Get More Traffic to Your E-commerce Site

Online Shopping with Touchscreen Ultrabook

Ecommerce is a great way to make money online. You can set up an online store and grow your passive income, helping you to earn more money to supplement your lifestyle or helping you to earn enough to create financial independence. You don’t even need to buy your own inventory in order to be successful!

One key to success with ecommerce is finding ways to drive traffic to your site. Without enough traffic, you won’t get the sales you need to meet your goals. There are many ways that you can drive traffic to your site, helping you to get immediate results. Here are a few tips for how you can get more traffic to your ecommerce site:

Use SEO on Your Product Pages and Descriptions

Search engine optimization is one of the best ways to get free traffic by helping your site to appear higher in search results. There are many different strategies involved in SEO, but for ecommerce, you can focus on making sure that your product pages and descriptions are optimized. You can do this by utilizing your keywords in your page content and in the descriptions for each of your products.

You may think that you don’t need much content on your page products, other than prices and key features, but you are missing out on opportunities for traffic if you are keeping these pages bare. Write a short description for each item, ensuring that you use at least one keyword. Then use keywords in your photo names and alt tags.

Write Guest Posts

Guest posting is the most popular method for getting backlinks, which can help you to raise your page rank and to help your page appear higher in search results, helping you to get more traffic. You can write guest posts within your niche to help you get even more leverage from these links.

Don’t write advertorial posts about your products, or else you will reduce your chances of having them accepted. Instead, if you sell pet products, you could write posts about how to groom your pets or how to care for their health. If you sell products for the home, you could write about home organization tips. The key is to write posts that offer some useful information while also being on topic for your niche.

Send Out Press Releases

Press releases are also a great way to get backlinks, and they are often seen as more authoritative, which gives them even more link juice to help you rank higher in search results. Though you may feel tempted to write press releases that tout the benefits of your products, these press releases may not have a good chance of being picked up because they will seem overly promotional. Instead, find ways to tie what you are doing on your site to something that is newsworthy. For example, you may write a press release about a new study that is linked to something you sell and then cite your website as a reference.

You can submit press releases to traditional media like newspapers and magazines, or you can submit them to a press release service that will send them out to a network of websites. Beware of low-quality networks that could appear spammy and hurt your page rank.

Host Contests

There’s nothing quite like giving away something for free to get you a lot of traffic. With an ecommerce site, you are ideally suited to host contests. You can offer up one of your products or even a package of products. You can offer up a discount or a free trial. Or you can offer up a gift certificate to allow winners to choose what they like.

Promote your contest far and wide on other blogs and websites, on your own blog, on your e-mail list, and on your social networks. The more exposure you get, the more traffic you will get.

Getting traffic to your ecommerce site is critical to your success. You can use these simple strategies to start driving significant amounts of traffic to your site and help you to start making the sales you need to make your site a success.

I think it’s important to be consistently getting new quality content on your site as well as getting your name out there through guest posting and by using other resources like using social media. You want to have quality content on your site that gets people to stay and interact with your site, which will then lead to more sales and more revenue.

If you are running a site that mostly depend on search engine traffic then it has become more hard to get traffic as Google has rolled over Penguin few days ago and it mostly affected on ecommerce site as per a popular blog on search engine.

Most of the ecommerce companies relies on affiliate marketing for their sales and many of them use coupons to promote their offers.

I am totally agree with you on the point “Write Guest Posts”.it’s a good way to build your perceived authority as well. When you write guest posts, you may be able to drop in a few references to your site and products, including links. You will probably also be featured in some sort of “About the Author” box at the end of your published post, so make sure to include a brief description about the ecommerce site you run and what you sell.
