Finance apps offer a portable solution to many money problems. As regards money, preparation is one of the key factors to good finances and good credit ratings. There are numerous finance applications out there, however the problem lies in the fact that many cost a reasonably handsome sum of your cash and most of the free ones are lacklustre. However, there are a certain number of free applications out there that offer the best of both worlds – good apps, for no cost. We look at the top five of these.
Mortgage Calculator
Interest rates are low, though there is only one way they can go, and that’s more than likely up. So, having a calculator that easily calculates the price increases and how they will affect your mortgage is a necessity. This mortgage calculator does this and is also free, making it inexcusable to not have it if you have a mortgage and a smart phone.
Venmo
This application offers an unbelievable complex number of features for no price what so ever. It allows you to link the app to your credit card and your bank account and pay people you know through the address book on your phone. Ideal if you go out for dinner and want to transfer money quickly and easily to your friends account. This device is compatible with all devices with iOS.
PayPal
Send money to friends or to businesses and then transfer money between PayPal and you bank account and lots more. You can also use PayPal to pay a number of different shops on and off line. The application is well organised and easy to use and even comes with a ‘Bump’ feature, which allows users to send money in a fun fashion.
Bloomberg
The Bloomberg application for iPad is a great financial application that allows you to keep an eye on what you spend your money on and how it is performing. Bloomberg offers comprehensive financial information on a wonderfully attractive app. It allows you to keep an eye all financial information in real time.
It also keeps you up to date with breaking financial news, trends and all of the finance information of the day. It even allows you to customise the markets you want to follow and add particular RSS Feeds and financial information from throughout the world. This is available on iPad and it’s also obviously free.
Easy Books
This app for iPad is also free and offers a comprehensive accounting module for everyday business users. This full double entry accounting package allows you to place in all information needed for such transactions for your company including receivables, purchases, sales, assets and depreciation among others.
The app allows you to create Profit and Loss statements, trial balance as well as cash flow statements and other accounting sheets. So, before you decide on purchasing an expensive financial solution for your business, this application may have a free answer.
They say nothing in life is free, however these applications may be grounds for dispute of the old adage.

I wouldn’t just call the “bump” functionality on the paypal app “fun”, it makes splitting bills and transfering money to others really easy.

I need to try out that PayPal app. I was at Home Depot the other day and they accept Paypal there now. Man PayPal is getting some traction into other areas.

I’m in a finance class and I need to be able to do some financial calculations on a calculator, but I can’t find anything for my TI-83 calc. Does anyone know if this is possible? Can I install the apps on it?
