Contrary to popular belief, proper SEO isn’t just making changes to content to improve your rankings in the search engine listings. It’s also about analyzing data to understand where adjustments need to be made. There is a lot to this crucial process, and in order to stay on top of it all, one needs access to the right set of tools. Right on time, here are three great tools that can be used to enhance your SEO efforts.
1. Link Popularity Checker
Link popularity is one of the key ingredients to a successful SEO strategy. The more popular your links, the more popular and relevant search engines like Google consider your site to be. As the name implies, Link Popularity Checker assesses the popularity of your site by checking both the total number of pages you have indexed in the search engines, and the number of links they contain. This tool is not only great for checking links. It is also a reliable method for measuring the overall visibility of your site.
2. Microsoft SEO Toolkit
Microsoft often takes a beating for being a money hungry technology giant, but the company gives away a number of services that are virtually worth their weight in gold. One such tool is the aptly named Microsoft SEO Toolkit. This handy package has a lot to offer, including detailed reports that tell you how your site is performing, in addition to recommendations for improving relevance and your position in the search engine results pages. Another plus for SEO Toolkit is its ability to scan your pages for things like broken links and missing alt tags as well as black hat practices that could cause your site to be penalized. Hands down, this is one of the best SEO tools out there.
3. SEMRush
In a well rounded SEO strategy, you are not only analyzing your own performance, but the performance of your competitors as well. SEMRush is the perfect tool for checking up on both. Brought to you by the creators of the popular Firefox plugin SEOquake, SEMRush is a user-friendly piece of software that allows you to monitor the performance of virtually any site in the search rankings of Google or Bing. This tool is great for keyword research as it offers a massive database of the words both your target audience and competitors are using. SEMRush is highly recommended for those attempting to monetize their SEO efforts.
Conclusion
These are just three of the many powerful SEO tools available. And while there are tons more, what’s so great about these tools is that they are free to use. There is both a free and paid edition of SEMRush, but many users find that the free version is more than enough to accommodate their needs. One’s SEO toolbox can never be too full, so we recommend further investigating the options on this list to determine if they make a good fit in your own.
