Batman: Arkham Asylum Wins Best Game Award

Batman Arkham AsylumThe 2010 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Video Games Award ended on Friday night (March 19) with Batman: Arkham Asylum winning the prize for best game of 2010. Batman beat Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Assassin’s Creed 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 10 and Left 4 Dead 2 to win the award.

Uncharted 2, however, bounced back to win four other awards– best action, original score, best story and use of audio. The gamers’ (vote) award, sponsored by high-street store Game, went to Modern Warfare 2 – the biggest selling game of all time due to its 2009 sales record.

The biggest disappointment of the night, however, was Assassin’s Creed 2, which won none the seven categories it was nominated for. The Full List of the 2010 BAFTA Video Games Awards is presented below:

  • Best Game – Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Action – Uncharted 2
  • Gameplay – Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Family and Social – Wii Sports Resort

Well deserved. The open world was vast. My only problem with the game was my intense desire to beat the Riddlers smug face. Maybe I will get to in AA2.

It’s no question that Batman-Arkham Asylum won the best game award. I love the game, though I wish the Left 4 Dead won too. I both love the games.

Batman is always a winner regardless of the medium. He is an icon and just never dies. Batman and Robin have been in the lounge room of many generations are now continue in Gotham City with more tricks and antics to save its people.

Well-deserved for Batman. After what, ten years of no good superhero games? This one comes out and blows away the competition.

I’m glad Batman Arkham Asylum won the best game award. Growing up I always loved reading all the Batman comics. To me he was the beat of all the superheroes.

I had no idea that the British Academy of Film and Television Arts had awards for video games, I agree with CPR though, it was time for a good superhero game – and what better the Gothem’s very own Batman. As for your talking point, I feel FIFA should have won best game play, and not Batman. As much as I love Batman, I can’t imagine any game being more fun then playing FIFA with a few friends – and I know I’m not alone in saying this. However, for single player game play I think I can understand the award going to Batman; as fun as FIFA is to play in multi-player, I rarely if ever play it in single player. That’s interesting about Assassin’s Creed 2 though, I had heard some good stuff about that games – I’m shocked to hear it won none of the seven awards.

I find games that are based on movies extremely addicting. I prefer games that are based on real life such as COD, which was from the WW2 scene. I am just hooked on these kind of games.
