What is Hydro Jetting?

Have you noticed frequent and recurring clogs in your plumbing system? Have you tried to clear the kitchen line by using a store-bought cleaner or by routine snaking but these methods have not resolved the issue? It’s time to call the NexGen HVAC & Plumbing service team to look into your problem. In most cases, recurring clogged drains indicate that there could be a more serious problem inside the pipes. A serviceman from NexGen repair and maintenance can advise you on the best action to take and when you should consider hydro jetting as a solution. Never heard of hydro jetting? This article will explain:

What is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting is a proven and effective method of clearing drain pipes and main sewer lines. A nozzle is fed into your drains and a blast of water at very high pressure is released into the lines. This method is used by professional plumbers to scrub off all the grime, grease and mineral buildup that tend to accumulate inside the pipes.

The process begins with a video inspection being performed to determine the exact location and the root cause of the problem. Video inspection is very important as it reduces the possibility of sewage flowing back into other areas. For example, if the problem has been caused by tree roots, the plumbers should use high pressure to break them.

However, hydro jetting does not solve problems with broken pipes; it can actually make them worse. This is why these tasks should only be performed by a qualified and experienced plumber. Usually, the jetting nozzle used will be determined by the size of the drain, the type of clog and the buildup level in the drain.

What Can Hydro Jetting Eliminate?

As a homeowner, you can use hydro jetting to effectively clear out sand, silt, hair clogs in the bathroom and other residues that accumulate over time in your drains. For restaurants and hotels, hydro jetting can clean out food particles buildups and grease from the kitchen drains. Compared to snaking out pipes, hydro jetting completely removes clogs by penetrating and emulsifying grease. It breaks down sludge and debris and cuts out hardened scale leaving your drains fresh and clean. Hydro jetting is also safe and environmentally friendly since no harsh chemicals are added.

Is Your Business or Personal Residence a Good Candidate for Hydro Jetting?

Every home or commercial business has its own unique needs. The following tips will help you determine if your drains need hydro jetting or just a simple drain cleaning.

  1. If you are using a septic tank system in your home, hydro jetting will effectively clear out silt buildup that a store-bought drain cleaner cannot remove.
  2. If you consistently experience clogged toilets, slow drains in the kitchen or bathroom hydro-jetting are the best option to fully clear and clean your drains.
  3. If you have already tried snaking but it hasn’t solved the problem and you have already determined that the obstruction causing the clogged pipes is not permanent then hydro jetting will be an ideal solution.

What Are The Benefits Of Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting has numerous benefits that cannot be compared to traditional clog removal methods.

Here are 5 benefits of hydro jetting.

  1. It saves Money

Although hydro jetting is more costly than other methods, it will save you money in the long run as it will eliminate future problems and frequent service calls to your plumber.

  1. Hydro Jetting Is Effective

Compared to traditional methods like snaking, hydro jetting is very effective as it completely clears the line and removes all traces of buildup on the insides of the pipe. Traditional methods can remove the blockage but without a deep clean, the residue will continue to build leading to another clog.

  1. It Is Sanitary

Plumbing is a physically demanding job that requires the worker to crouch under filthy sinks and sometimes get into contact with sewage water and debris. One great benefit of hydro jetting is that it is fast and therefore the plumber spends less time doing the work and has less contact with the contaminants.

  1. Its Environmentally Friendly

Compared to traditional clog removal methods that use harsh chemicals to clean drains, hydro jetting is safer and more environmentally friendly since the process uses water. It is, therefore, safe to be used in buildings that are in close proximity to rivers, lakes, and ponds.

  1. Hydro Jetting Prevents Future Plumbing Problems

Hydro jetting is a smart and efficient preventative maintenance method as it ensures that future plumbing problems are kept at bay. If you are moving into a new home or building ensure that you carry out a video inspection and thoroughly clean out the pipes through hydro jetting to avoid future homeowner headaches.

I appreciate how you mentioned that hydro jetting is the new best method of cleaning drains that are clogged by a buildup of materials. My wife and I are noticing that our kitchen sink won’t drain the water out after hand-washing our dishes. We’ll have to find a high-pressure jetting service to get our sewer lines cleaned out so that our water can drain and so that the problem is solved before it causes further damage.
