Measures to control AIDS in the state Under TDP Governance

AIDS is one of the health problems faced by the world. TDP Government has taken preventative measures to control AIDS. Many programs have been undertaken. In the country mainly six states (Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, and Nagaland) have a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS.

Andhra Pradesh is one of them.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken every possible precaution for the Prevention of AIDS/HIV. Under the Leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu the TDP Government took many precautions. Many people suffered from HIV and with the help of the state Government many got cured and some of them are saved by the safety measures given to follow by the Government. Precautions by blood transfusion:

  • Granting of licenses in 169 blood banks for the availability of tested safe blood.

  • Last year’s survey conducted in 2001-2002 estimated 4% of people to be transmitted through blood.
  • 88 STDs in government hospitals to detect and treat sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Establishment of clinics.
  • Increased use of condoms to 100 lakhs through the free supply of condoms, and social marketing scheme.
  • Constructive efforts by voluntary organizations to prevent AIDS and create awareness about this disease.
  • Mass publicity through magazines, radio, TV, and folk art forms.
  • To prevent mother-to-child transmission of the AIDS virus.

An experimental project has been started at Hyderabad Nayapool Government Maternal Hospital in collaboration with UNICEF and National AIDS Control Organization and this project is to be expanded to all medical college hospitals and district hospitals.

Voluntary counseling and examination centers

Setting up 102 Voluntary Counseling and Examination Centers in the Area, Medical College Hospitals, and District Headquarters Hospitals. AIDS control, Training of medical personnel in the prevention of HIV.

AIDS Prevention Education Program (APEP)

Conducting awareness programs for 13 lakh people in schools for AIDS awareness among ninth and tenth-class students.

College AIDS Awareness Program (CAAP)

In the year 2002-2003, 5 lakh people were diagnosed with HIV in 1000 colleges. Conducting awareness programs.

Janmabhoomi programs

Conduct awareness programs for Airs in Janmabhoomi programs organized every year.

Blood Donation Day

Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1st October every year to encourage voluntary blood donation. 25,000 accident insurance scheme for voluntary blood donors with effect from August 15, 1998. This is the first such scheme to be implemented in the country.

Family Health Awareness Camps (FHAC)

Conduct family health awareness camps in every village across the state, visit every house medical personnel for awareness programs on HIV/AIDS and STDs, and free treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Providing comfort.

Candlelight Memorial Day

On the 3rd Sunday of May every year from the village and Mandal levels to the state level, holding rallies with candles, organizing public meetings, and conducting a wide campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness.

World AIDS Day is December 1st
