– install the SEO all in 1 pack. I know this has been said before, but it’s a very good plugin. Highly recommended.
– mind the internal linkbuilding. Put links to other pages on popular pages.
– watch the keyword density. Make sure your targeted keyword combination has a density between 2% and 5% in the text.

I have some friends sees that wordpress can help everyone get good business through getting huge amount of projects through wordpress because of the CMS already installed and all they can do is deigns. That surely is one advantage every designer see’s as a good help.

WordPress has provided plug-ins that are both user-friendly and SEO friendly. A few that I can mention are Akismet and Cookies For Comments. Another thing that’s great about WordPress is that you don’t need too many plug-ins for it.

You really do need a sitemap. I just ran a google seo scan on a new blog and it kept hanging up because my sitemap was off. Your robot.txt in the root is also important for indexing. blogging seo can be harder than it needs to be if not done correct. With good seo it can go a long way t your blog/sites success. You should submit you new post in a form of RSS feed to the major RSS agregators as well for the maximum exposure.

I never understood why some WP themes include the blog title first in every post and some do not. I would think that it should be standard for SEO to include the post title first and have the blog title optional if anything. I guess not all WordPress theme developers have SEO on their mind.

I love wordpress ever since I started using it. In fact, every website I build now are all under wordpress.
But what would you say about Drupal being threat to wordpress in terms of being presentable wise, content management, and now they say it’s even better SEO-wise.
I just hope wordpress stays the top choice, cause if it’s true Drupal is better, then it’s a big job learning that thing.

I barely would say Google Sitemap is perfect tool for indexing. There are tons of holy war comments all over SEO forums and 100% decision to upload Sitemap on a regular basis or not isn’t given so far.

When I asked my web guys to add a blog to my site, they said WordPress was the only way to go. Easy for me to add content (as a non-techie), the search engines love it and it is already built so it keeps costs low. It seems to be a popular choice.

There are two plugins for wordpress both paid and thus very effective. First is Keyword Winner which lets you choose the best keywords, low competition and optimal traffic and other scribe SEO which check keyword density. both really good for wordpress seo.

What I have done in the past is put posts I wrote on my blog into several categories on my blog. I am now wondering whether that is such a good idea as the search engines might get confused. What’s your take on that – should a post just be listed in one category, or can you list it in different categories if they fit?
In terms of navigation and making it easier for readers to find specific articles, it is advisable to use categories. However, if you are concerned about problems associated with duplicate contents, there are a few WP SEO plugins that could easily take care of that.
I’ve always followed the advice of putting a blog post in a *single category*, and *multiple tags*.

Not sure about the ‘solid’ evidence Luqman can provide but using sitemaps is, in ordinary terms, a way of providing a kind of direction for googlebot such that your pages are indexed faster and that can only be a good thing.

I think its a good plugin for generating internal links on your blog although I’d prefer to do it manually for better control.
In my practice, I have found the most important points of SEO:
1st Site age. This is probably the single most important factor in Google’s algorithms. Therefore, when thinking about a new site, try to find to buy a domain name as a possible older.
2nd Put the right keywords in the description and title.
3rd Ping.fm. This is the most powerful tool of fast indexing.
4th Speed! The faster your page is loaded in the above it will be on Google.
5th Do not allow the website to “die” or “sleep”. If you run every day article, you are setting up a Google crawl every day.

I agree about sitemaps, however, you mention not to have similar keywords that your aiming for on different pages of your site and I have to say that although I have heard this advice before, there are some times that I’ll have a site rank multiple pages for the same keyword. It may be affecting my rank for all the sites aiming for those keywords, but its impossible to know for sure. Great post, much of your SEO advice is tried and true.

I must say, I’ve never bothered with a sitemap, but then again I’ve never had any problem with getting pages indexed.
There’s some good info her. I agree that sitemaps are not that important anymore from a ranking point of view but its a more a case of “have to have it”. With a plug in its way too simple to ignore. Apart from that I think that “All In One SEO” and proper permalinks is enough optimization if you use your titles well.
I agree that site maps really do help in getting the page indexed quickly by the search engines. The crawlers seem to rely and look for it.

There are so many plug ins for Word Press that it is so easy to get lost in them. Keep things simple is my principle. By far the most important are the all-in-one SEO or a similar one and site map. Then write good content, that’s it. Anything more is just going over the top.

I too use WordPress for 95% of my websites and your SEO tips are bang on. I also suggest using an SEO plugin making it easier to create your meta data as you suggest. The plugin I commonly use is All in One SEO plugin. It’s free.
After that just write terrific content and promote your that excellent content and in time you can rank in the search engines.

Personally I just love all the plugins that are available. The ones that help with SEO are really neat too. As mentioned by another commenter, All in one SEO is great, so are ones like seopressor which I use for making sure on-page SEO is up to scratch.

Great post about SEO. I have been using the All in One SEO plugin for a while now on my sites, but recently, I have been turned on to the SEO Pressor by Yoast plugin. Apparently it has more functionality.
Also remember to target keyword phrase in: title, post link(the link of that page or post), description, 2-3% kwd in content, and also within an h1 or h2 header.
And of of course, let’s not forget the internal linking architecture as well as the number of quality inbound links. SEO is quite the rabbit hole!!!
getting the best out of seo is very important to make your site well known.. but it should be limited to seo alone, social sites are another way for site to grow it’s popularity..
I have heard that Google’s algorithms are taking into account backlinking from social sites such as Twitter and Facebook as a boost to a site’s ranking and search engine placement. Social sites become part of the SEO equation.

The one thing that I really like about wordpress is how clean it is. The platform isn’t going to blow you a way, from an aesthetic perspective, but it will never disappoint, either!!
I would recommend it for anyone starting a website, especially with smaller budgets 😉

I guess SEO for me is a bit of a game. I enjoy the challenge. But for someone for whom PageRank equates to money, I guess a plugin like this might be justified. For everyone else, such as me, learning all you can about robots.txt and sitemap.xml plus the All-in-One SEO is more than enough.

One thing that I really love about wordpress for cms is that it is very user friendly. Well, I know not all people can be expert overnight with the wordpress control but at least it is not as complicated as other cms or open source managers. I actually tried to study drupal but I got some headache the first attempt. I also heard that wordpress is more seo friendly compare to other cms.

I recommend All in one seo pack plugin, although i read that many people don’t use any SEO plugin and have very good results.
To be successful in the field SEO, it is necessary to stuff some keywords in your post and never forget to enlist your site in Google webmaster tool.
