5 Ways To Attract Traffic To Your Blog

In a basic sense, a blog is written to try and attract traffic whether for financial gains or simply as a way to meet like-minded people and express your opinion. There are millions of blogs online, all trying to attract traffic. In this post I list five effective ways to drive traffic and have others interact on your blog.

  1. Find Other People’s Blogs and Leave Comments

When attempting to drive traffic to your blog, what you should first do is make a search for blogs that cover the same topic as your own blog. Read through some of the posts and if you have something relevant to say, simply leave your comment at the bottom of the post. Do not spam this blog with links to your site but try to build up a level of trust and actually interact with the people on this blog.

  1. Make Sure Your Blog Has Valuable Content

People read blogs because they want to listen to real people who have genuine opinions on their chosen subject, so do your research and give them what they want. This will not only drive people to your blog but will actually make it “sticky” and if your blog is consistently interesting and full of relevant and helpful information, people will come back again and again. Remember, people reading your blogs may also share your content on sites like Facebook and Twitter so this concept of valuable content is extremely important.

  1. Blog As Often As Possible

A lot of people who blog often spend a considerable amount of time writing a weeks worth of posts over the weekend and then upload the posts all at once. If you consider yourself as someone who may be interested in your own blog, this person may read everything you have to say in a single day and when returning, if they see you haven’t updated anything, they will probably never return. Try to post regularly and at least everyday, even if this is a small post. This will keep people interested and up-to-date and your blog won’t go stagnant.

  1. Translate Your Blog

This is a great way to drive more traffic. What most people fail to recognize is that many people who are interested in the same topics spoken of in your blog do not use English as their native tongue. There are numerous translator tools you can use for this and if you change your blog into say, 20 different languages, you have potentially tapped into another 20 markets.

  1. Add Your Blog to Directories

This is another method of promoting your blog and can help to get it noticed. By submitting your blog to any one of the blog directories, you will increase the chances of somebody interested in your niche finding your blog.

So, if you follow these simple steps, you are sure to see more traffic arrive at your blog over time. Remember, once you do start to see a steady influx of people visiting and commenting, do not simply sit back and think you have succeeded. A blog still needs to be updated and maintained to keep people coming back for more!

  1. These are some great tips! most of them is already in my daily routine but translating is something i haven’t worked with, did some quick research and saw their are several plugins for wordpress that can do this for me which is superb! thanks for the great tips and keep them coming 🙂

  2. The hard work comes from finding time to write worthy content on a regular basis. It’s hard work when you are a lone blogger but it can be made much easier with a team or allowing guest blog posts

  3. I think these are great tips for beginners when getting started. One tip about writing content and making it valuable to your readers. You need to find your “voice.” Make it different. Not only are your readers attracted to great content, they are also attracted to your style of writing.

  4. Most value point is to write user friendly, interesting and informative quality content i personally believe its more about user and less about Search engine’s algorithm. I never noticed but agreed now the translation feature can play a good role to enhance the traffic ratio of the blog.

  5. It is very good for the commentator if he writes his comments on a blog that have good contents. Google will consider good writing post in its excellent directory and value of comment will be increased.

  6. One thing I’ve noticed when blogging, if you do not have something new to say… you might want to upload a single photo for that day… or simply make changes on your last post…

  8. I enjoyed reading your article and just signed up for you ebook. :-). I was wondering what blog directories you suggest to submit your blogs to? Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers, Sandra 🙂

  9. I agree on all of your points. The blogosphere is like a community, the more we interact with different groups and reach out to other people, the more opportunities we get to expand our network. We meet more people and that translates to more viewership. We just have to know where to look, and by that it means other relevant blogs. 🙂
