5 Apps That Will Help You Make Free Phone Calls

Take a glance at your phone bill right now and there’s a pretty good chance that it’s over $50 or $75, right?  Since most phone carriers base your bill on the amount of minutes, texts and data you used, wouldn’t it be great to use an app on your phone to help cut back on your bill?  Well thankfully, there are hundreds of great apps on the market that can help you place free calls.  That way, when you call your loved ones, a friend or the neighbor, you don’t have to worry about going over your minutes.  To help set the best above the rest, here are five awesome apps you should check out that help you make free calls on either the iPhone or Android:

Skype A name that we’ve all become to known online has an amazing Android and Skype app.  If any of your friends of family members have a  Skype account, be sure to let them know about this app.  When they are active on their account, you can simply click their  name and start the call.  Even if they don’t have the app, you can still make calls worldwide at a very low rate.

Viber The cool thing about Viber is that it will scan your contact list and tell you if any of them have the app installed.  If they do, it works very similar to Skype.  Simply click on their name when you want to contact them and the entire call won’t use up your carrier minutes.

Fring Whether you want to make a call or a video chat, Fring is a great app that lets you connects with anyone else that has a Fring account and the app installed on their phone.  One of the features that sets this app above the rest is that you can video chat with up to four people at once.

Qik Not only can you make one-on-one calls with Quik, but you can also broadcast videos from across the web.  When you’re broadcasting, users on either your contact list or across the world can watch your feeds.

OoVoo While it has a odd name, this app is a great way to chat up with six people at once.  Free for calling and video chatting, OoVoo supports most phones on the market and the coolest thing is that even if the other user doesn’t have the app or software installed, they can simply click a specialized link and are able to chat with you instantly.

The next time you pick up the phone to make a call, be sure to try using these apps instead.  If any of your friends of family members have these apps, be sure to get into the habit of doing so.  That way, when you make a call, you can save a lot of minutes and money in the meantime.
