Website Response Time:

WordPress websites tend to slow down over time. This is usually due to the many plug-ins that are installed on the website and also the fact that WordPress sites are basically slow to respond. Thus, you need to take correct precautions in order to make sure you don’t present your customers with a slow website since that would mean loss of visitors and even customers depending on the type of website.

Once a person does visit your website you usually have only a few seconds to impress him. And if the visitor finds the website slow to respond then he may not stay for long. This is especially true since many people now even use their mobile devices to surf the internet and such people who are visiting your website on the go need fast response time. In addition, the speed of the website can also affect the ranking of the website at times.

Choosing the server:

It is important to choose a good server to host your website. However, you need to first access the requirements of your website. If it is a simple content management system or blogging system then you may not expect a lot of traffic on the site and perhaps shared hosting would be the one to go for. On the other hand if you have several plug-ins installed or have an ecommerce or social networking site which interacts with visitors a great deal then it becomes necessary to use a fast web service provider and opt for dedicated hosting. Preventing hot linking to your website via the .htaccess could also be helpful.

Furthermore, you need to choose the right template for your WordPress website, with care, since it can be a factor that slows down your website. Also, it can’t hurt to optimize the database once in a while. There are several tools and plug-ins available for WordPress that can optimize your website’s database.

Security of Your Site:

Your WordPress website is vulnerable to attacks by hackers and nosy smart people. Thus, it is necessary to take a few steps to secure your website. To start with, it is a good idea to change the logins of the administrator’s panel. Ideally you should change the username and password and make it something really hard to figure out.

It is also a good idea to relocate the wp-cofig.php file found in the root folder of your WordPress installation. You can relocate the file, after renaming it, to a new directory of your choice. It is also a good idea to disable the editor in wp-admin.

Ya Use of CDN is definitely a smart choice. One can use some lazy lode plugin because most of the loading time is due the images.Lazy load plugin ensures that your site will load the image one by one when some scroll the screen. This will save some loading time and put the web page fast to the user.
