How to Improve Conversions on Your Mobile Website

It is common business sense that one of the surest ways you are going to improve on the profitability of your business is by being able to have constant conversions with existing and potential customers.

The rate of mobile connection has grown tremendously over the past few years. The statistics will continue to be more dramatic as time goes by. In fact, there will be 1.5 connected devices for every person by 2020, according to Cisco, with half of these being smartphones.

A wise business person should have already seen the market potential that this kind of trend comes with. Right now, a mobile website is something that your business should not be without, at least if you are interested in seeing your business thrive in the near future.

You need to go beyond merely having a mobile website. Your mobile website must be in a position to create the desired results. A mobile website should be able to keep consumers engaged and interested in your business and its products.

This article has been drafted with an intention of taking you through some of the tips through which can help improve conversions via a mobile website. These are some of the tried and tested methods you can put into use.

Your content should be designed for smaller screens

In as much as this rapidly growing technology has seen mobile screens get bigger as time has gone by, their sizes can still be small when compared to those of desktop screens. This means that they still have a smaller field of view. Therefore, when you come up with a website to be displayed on smaller screens, you should realize most of the user’s attention will go to the content of your website. You will want to keep the consumer away from unnecessary distractions.

These are some of the ways through which you can be able to achieve this:

Prioritize the content and not the logo or navigation. On most of the old desktop sites, the navigation and logos would always cover ten to twenty percent of the surface. This may not be much of a concern given the fact that the desktop has a very wide, large surface. However, when it comes to mobile, where the screen size is limited, it may do a lot of damage to the quality of the website. It is a good thing to always take the audience straight to the content without having to scroll over large logos and excessively large navigation.

The information on the product pages should be limited and scanable. Most of the information you would want to add on the pages does not really concern most of the consumers. Just hide all the irrelevant details.

Make use of swipeable image galleries. This will save you of the much needed space if users can swipe through galleries.

Checkout should be nothing less than user-friendly

There few online things which the consumers hate more than a long form to fill out. Long forms are one of the surest ways to get consumers to leave your mobile website. It is not easy typing on mobile gadgets. Making spelling errors and typos is also a common mistake that is inevitable when using the mobile devices. It is for this reason that you are advised to utilize a simple and easy to understand checkout form.

It is prudent that your checkout form should be condensed down on to a single screen. This saves the consumers the hassle of having to scroll through several pages of fields. Simplicity should be the motivating point here.

Labelling is also an important aspect of your check out form. Make sure customers will be in a position to easily understand your form. There is no sense in having confusing field headings. Just make it simple and therefore easy to understand.

You can also decide to combine the multiple fields together. This way, the consumers will have an easier time filling the forms and consequently, feel less intimidated. Remember that the moment you want to ask your customers to fill in unnecessary fields on forms, they will get bored or discouraged and potentially decide to abandon your website.

Here are some of the ways through which you can your checkout form much more user friendly:

Use clickable calendars when asking users to select dates. Do not go the old desktop way of asking users to type in information or using drop downs. It has proved not to be as user friendly when it comes to mobile. It is easier to use a clickable calendar instead. This way, you will leave you consumers grateful and reduce the chance of them entering the wrong date, which is a common occurrence with the drop down menus.

To make the address selection simpler, it is advised that you let customers use a saved address. This is a very crucial part of the mobile device. When the users are made to type the entire address with their hands, then the process becomes time consuming. To make your customers lives easier, you can simply save the addresses of your consumers.

Use mobile-friendly buttons. The website’s buttons should be very easy to tap. This means that they should be of enough size and possible for anybody to press with a single tap.

Have a smoother payment process

This is the most vital part. Any customer will want a convenient transaction process. Which means that if this part is messed up, you will lose customers at this critical point at the end of the process. You don’t want to get customers all the way to the end and lose them before completing the purchase.

To come up with a smoother payment process, here are some of the tips which will prove useful:

Customers should be given multiple payment options to choose from. Different customers will be comfortable with different payment options – from credit/debit cards, PayPal to internet banking.

Allow the use of mobile wallets. This has a lot to do with your consumers. Mobile wallets give your customers many options to choose from and are growing rapidly.
