The iphone 4 is a modern smart phone which has maximum features to help a busy individual, for communicating and implementing his or her plans. Meanwhile email has become a time saving medium to share information among organisations and individuals alike. Moreso, having an iPhone device with customized email settings will enable a individual to share information from the desired mail server.
Step By Step Procedure To Customize Email Settings In iPhone 4
- Firstly on dashboard select SETTINGS.
- In the SETTINGS page you will find mails, contacts, calenders as one of the option menu.
- After selecting the MAILS, CONTACTS, CALENDERS menu , you will find your preset mail address contacts. At the bottom of those mail contacts you will find the option ADD ACCOUNT.
- After selecting the option ADD ACCOUNT you will find popular mail servers such as Microsoft exchanger, Yahoo, Gmail and AOL . At the bottom of those options you will find OTHER.
- If you require to receive mails from the mail server for example, from your firm’s website , then you have to select the option OTHER on the screen.
- After selecting OTHER menu, you will find a option named ADD MAIL ACCOUNT.
- After selecting the option ADD MAIL ACCOUNT, you will find the option NEW ACCOUNT.
- After selecting the NEW MAIL ACCOUNT option, a page with option IMAP and POP will be displayed. IMAP is the default option in iPhone 4. So you can select save in the top left corner of the page.
- After selecting the option , you will be displayed a page with two main headings as INCOMING MAIL SERVER and OUTGOING MAIL SERVER. Both the main headings has three subheadings as HOSTNAME, USER NAME, PASSWORD.
- In the INCOMING MAIL SERVER heading at the HOST NAME enter your host address with whom you require to share information. Secondly in USERNAME enter your own mail address with your password in the PASSWORD column.
- The above similar action has to be done with OUTGOING MAIL SERVER.
- After entering the details of both INCOMING MAIL SERVER and OUTGOING MAIL SERVER select the option SAVE in the top left corner. After entering the SAVE button you will be displayed on the page “ THE MAIL CONNECTION DOESNOT USE SSL (secure socket layer) CONNECTION with YES and NO option” select YES and your phone is now customized to receive mails from that particular mail address.
The following is a breakdown/illustration of the entire process.

Did you maybe find any option how to change sound notification? It’s possible without jailbrakeing it?

Thanks for the post Cynthia, I always love flow charts to make things clearer.
With regards to the question about email sound notification I believe you can just switch this off in the general settings -> sounds -> new mail -> off.

PUSH E-MAIL 24/7 !! ahahah. Good, email settings review for the iPhone but I run my iphone non stop that my phone dies so much. I had to buy this Phone Charger Charging Station on Amazon because it’s gotten so bad.
