5 Tips to Enhance Video Marketing for Your Local Business

Video marketing is a necessity in today’s digital age where more and more individuals are turning to the Internet to watch, download and stream all types of content, from educational seminars, webinars, films, TV shows, video blogs, and the list could go on. As a local business owner, you can capitalize on video marketing in a number of ways from purchasing advertising slots on sites such as YouTube and Hulu, to creating your own online videos to help build exposure, brand identity, expert status, and SEO. For the purposes of this post, we’ll focus on the latter.

Educational and promotional videos are becoming more and more popular amongst consumers, and it’s a great idea to add your local business to the mix of video marketers. To make your video marketing efforts worthwhile, consider the following tips.

Share content: Share, share, share! Come up with tips and information that your target audience wants and needs to know about. And then post links to all of your videos throughout your online web pages and social media sites to get the word out.

Let your audience know you appreciate them: It’s all about your target market, and they need to know it. Say thank you in your videos every once in a while, and ask for their input. You’ll be surprised how far getting your target audience involved can go to generate leads and viewers for your local business. You can even get creative here and offer promotions or conduct a competition via your videos for those who comment regularly or participate.

For example, maybe you run a promotion where you ask a question and the answer will be posted in a future video. Whoever submits a response to the question indicating the video post they saw it in gets an exclusive discount or prize.

Ask for others to come on board: Look for other experts or complementary businesses to do a video blog with you, or might even ask them to do one that you could post on your blog.

Use high energy: People like to be motivated and inspired, so make your videos interesting and energetic while being yourself.

Be consistent: As with any social media network, you get the best response when you’re consistent in posting and responding. For one, it helps your audience know what and when to expect new videos, and it helps your SEO efforts.

Use keywords when you post: Keywords will help your videos get found within internal and external search engines, so be sure to use them in the video description, URL, etc. when possible. It’s also a good idea to use GEO modifiers or location-specific keywords for your local business market.

For those who aren’t utilizing video marketing for their local business, I’d suggest they do so as soon as possible. It doesn’t need to be complicated or over-the-top. Using a simple camera with easy uploading capability and simple editing software will suffice. YouTube even offers free editing software that’s pretty simple to use.
