The world of marketing is ever-expanding. New marketing opportunities continually present themselves, and more and more marketing services emerge to help small businesses reach customers, land sales, and increase profits. Still, I’m left wanting. Despite the enormous potential of current marketing services, there are missing features that, if implemented, would result in my perfect marketing world. Here are five marketing services I wish existed.
1. True marketing automation
We hear a lot about marketing automation. It’s a buzzphrase. It’s also a myth; it does not yet exist. What true marketing automation means to me is that I purchase a piece of software or an app and input my products or services, and it does all the rest – automatically. It handles all my marketing, market material production and distribution and ROI tracking, and it then funnels sales to me. As Ron Popeil would say, ‘Set it and forget it.’ All I would have to do is sit back, deliver goods, and collect a paycheck.
2. Guaranteed ROI marketing app
I’d love to see an app that guarantees a set ROI if you follow its suggestions. Something in the ballpark of 1 million percent ROI would be good.
3. Complete marketing overview
On a more realistic note, I’m tired of having to check every single campaign, every single analytics site, every single social media service, and more just to see how my marketing campaigns are behaving. Is there no software that can centralize all marketing campaigns across all media - print marketing, ads, digital, mobile, TV, radio, etc. - and all channels, and also analyze user behavior and how each marketing channel relates to another? Oh, and I want to see all important data on a single screen and have the software make pertinent suggestions based on said data. Is that too much to ask?
4. Competitor spy app
This app tells me every single thing every single competitor has done or is planning and gives me the raw data results of every marketing campaign itâs ever run.
5. Budget marketer app
I’d get to input my budget for marketing, my industry, location, customer demographics, products, etc., and this app would churn out the best possible marketing plan based on my budget.
It would be even better if all of these services worked together. I could run the budget app, filter the results through the guaranteed ROI app, keep an eye on what my competitors are doing to beat them at their own game, then see how my new campaign performs on my overview software. Or, I could just let my marketing automation software take care of all that and enjoy an ice-cold beer instead.

The spy app would be cool but it would be used against you too. So not sure how good it would really work out in the long run.

A set it and forget it software could be very useful and very profitable and very expensive to buy if it ever is going to be available. I would really want the Spy app but I also believe there will be an antispy app that will keep a marketers secrets behind locked doors, as soon as such an app is created.

True Automation would be a boon to the present marketing condition, especially in e-marketing eco-system.

Hah! A one million percent ROI, sign me up 🙂
I’ll also take that competitor spy app.
