What is Meant by the Proportion of Two Numbers?

Proportion is a technique of comparison between two numbers to solve an equation. You can use the proportion calculator to solve sets of increasing or decreasing numbers. If the numbers are increasing or decreasing in the same ratio then you can take the ratio directly proportional to each other. The proportional number is represented by the symbol :: or “=”. solving proportions can make the question just too easy and you can find the answer in a matter of a few steps. In the proportionality questions, you can use cross multiplication or the simple proportional method.

In the article, we are going to solve the proportion values by giving a practical example:

How to solve proportions?

The proportional method can be applied to various situations and in the following example.

Consider if the ratio of the pizza to burgers is equal to ⅗, then how many pizzas are there if the number of burgers is 15?

Solution:

Step 1: construct the proportional values by the given values and x.

⅗= x/15

Step 2: Apply the cross multiplication to the above equation:

Then

3 × 15 = x × 5

x × 5  = 3 × 15

x = (3 × 15)/5

x = 9,

There will be 9 pizzas at the party and 15 burger

You can use the proportion calculator to find the proportional number of burgers and pizzas.

Now by the proportionality method:

Step 1: construct the proportional values by the given values and x.

15 ÷ 5 = 3

X ÷ 3 = 3

X ÷ 3 = 3

Step 2: You can also able to find the number of pizzas as:

X =3 × 3

X = 9

Example:

Consider, if a work can be completed by 5 persons in 10 days then how many people can complete the same work in 3 days? Here, we can solve the required number of people by the proportionality method and the simple equation would become the proportional method. You can find the answer to the question by simple cross multiplication or by the proportion method.

Step 1: construct the proportional values by the given values and x.

5/10= 3/x

Step 2: Apply the cross multiplication to the above equation:

Then

3 × 10 = x × 5

x × 5  = 3 × 10

x = (3 × 10)/5

x = 30/5

x = 6

There will be 6 works, required

use the proportion calculator to find the proportional number of works.

Now by the proportionality method:

Step 1: construct the proportional values by the given values and x.

15 ÷ 5 = 3

X ÷ 3 = 3

X ÷ 3 = 3

Step 2: You can also able to find the number of pizzas as:

X =3 × 2

X =  6

The proportions calculator can solve all the indirect and indirect proportionality by the cross multiplication and proportion method.

Why use proportionality?

If there are missing values in the proportion equation, then simply put the equal signs between them. You can find the proportionality by the proportion calculator by cross multiplication or by the proportion method. You can use the online tool to find the values of the missing numbers. When you are using proportionality than the length questions, then the questions would turn simple. But the proportion method is a little difficult as compared to the cross-multiple methods. The proportionality can be director or indirect as one quantity is and you need to identify what is the proportionality direct or indirect. When using the online tool it can identify automatically what is the proportionality and its nature.

Conclusion:

When you are going to use the proportion calculator, then it can be a simple way to solve by the proportionality. When you are using the proportionality methodology, you can predict what is the required quantity by the ratio of the fractions. Proportionality can be used to solve the direct or indirect relationship between the two values.
