Following the release of the list of the world’s richest billionaires for 2011 by Forbes, we take a quick look at some of the members of the super-rich club associated with Facebook. Overall, 7 billionaires from the social-networking Website were listed among the richest people on the planet. The list goes as follows:
First on the list is Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, ranked at no. 52 with an estimate of $13.5 billion, up by 238% from last year’s $4 billion. In second place is Dustin Moskovitz, Co-founder of Facebook. He is worth $2.7 billion and in the 420th position. Aged only 26, Dustin is the youngest person on the Forbes list, beating Zuckerberg by 8 days.
In joint third place is Eduardo Saverin and Facebook’s first president Sean Parker at no. 782 with $1.6 billion. In fifth position is Peter Thiel, who invested $500,000 in Facebook in 2004, at no. 833 with $1.5 billion. Other Facebook associates on the list include Mark Pincus, president of Zynga (authors of FarmVille and Mafia Wars) at no. 1140 with $1 billion, and Russian Internet investor, Yuri Milner, who also invested in Facebook, at no. 1140 with $1 billion.
Although the United States has 10 more billionaires than last year, it also has 56 fewer than its peak in 2008. Overall, the richest person in the world remains Mexican telecoms tycoon, Carlos Slim, who has a net worth of $74 billion.
It seems that FB has become the latest eldorado. What will happen if someone decentralizes social networks? To think it all started with Microsoft’s investment…
Hey, Great post indeed. Thanks for it. It was really interesting to read. Regards, Biurai Vilniuje.
I have no idea that facebook has so many owners, i would love to be amongst them and have so much money for myself and my friends, maybe one day :d
That is a very impressive number of millionaires from a single website!
I thought its only Mark Zukerberg who earned huge digits from Facebook, most surprising news was about Mark Pincus. I didnt know Zynga games can generate this much revenue. I never played Farmville never found it interesting or appealing.
It’s still unbelievable that the few guys with an idea to connect each other through school has blown up into a world-wide success in less than a decade. Can you imagine being a billionaire before you are thirty? The interesting thing is the humble nature of Zuckerberg’s living still. I mean, he RENTS his home!
It is interesting to see how Facebook has changed lives of so many people (both in terms of networking and money). But I have a feeling that the social giant might fall one day.
Even if it fails, at least they have made a fortune out of it. If only I had a great idea that would change the world. Lol!
Great post, its very informative. Facebook is very popular and it make the developer be more rich.
