Tips to Speed up Slow Graphics Card

Generating Graphics Card Information

There are two different alternatives – using Command Prompt or Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool. The steps are given below.

Using Elevated Command Prompt

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Type SystemInfo.exe and press Enter to execute it.
  3. You’ll be provided detailed system information containing the Graphics Card name, model no. and manufacturer.

Writing Detailed System Info to a File

In the elevated Command Prompt, type the following command and execute it:

  • systeminfo.exe>C:\MySystemDetails.txt

Using DirectX Diagnostic Tool

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. This opens up the Run dialog box.
  3. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  4. You’ll see the DirectX Diagnostic Tool on the screen.
  5. Click the Display tab.
  6. You can see all the information on your screen.

Writing Graphics Info to a File

To save the information to a file, click Save all information button.

Tips to Accelerate your Graphics Performance

Many games support optimizing graphics performance via in-game settings. If there’s anything not optimized currently, take a look at your NVIDIA Control Panel. Moreover, there are a few other settings you might want to configure. Here’s how:

Update Graphics Driver

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand the top node in the left panel.
  3. Expand Display adapters.
  4. Right-click your video adapter, choose Update driver software.
  5. Now click Search automatically for updated driver software.

Improve Virtual Memory

  1. Type System in the Search Box on the Taskbar.
  2. Open System, a Control Panel item from the Search Results.
  3. Click Advanced system settings.
  4. Now click the Advanced tab.
  5. Click Settings (Performance).
  6. Click the Advanced tab.
  7. Next, click Change (Virtual Memory).
  8. Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
  9. Select the system drive.
  10. Select Custom size option.
  11. Set a higher paging file size in the Initial size (MB) and Maximum size (MB) textboxes.
  12. Click Set.
  13. Click OK | OK | OK.

Adjust System Settings for Best Performance

  1. Perform steps # 1-4 under the previous section.
  2. Click Visual Effects tab.
  3. Select Adjust for best performance.
  4. Click OK | OK.

Optimize RAM Memory

  1. Download RAMRush from http://www.fcleaner.com/ramrush.htm
  2. Click Download Now.
  3. After downloading the tool, install it on your computer.
  4. You’ll be able to see its system tray icon.
  5. Move your mouse around the RAMRush program preview.
  6. Click Start Optimize.
