Successful Website Design Elements

It feels like everyone has a website nowadays. However, there is a distinct difference between an amazing website and an average one. The thing that most people don’€™t realize is that the layout and design of your website can affect how much traffic you get. Even if the content itself is the same, how you approach the visual appearance of your site can lure readers in or repel them. Here are some great tips that will ensure that you have a visually striking website that will not only captivate your readers, but encourage them to come back for more.

web design elements

For starters, let’s discuss how the alignment of your site is. In order to check this, simply imagine that there is a grid placed over your screen. Do your images and icons line up nicely, or are they scattered all over the place? Check for horizontal and vertical alignment to ensure that your sight isn’t a strain on the eyes. While you are doing this, take a look at the color scheme that you are using. Are you taking advantage of contrast colors and putting them to work for you? If you have colors that blend in too much, you may be giving your readers a headache when all they want to do is read what is posted on your site. Use contrasting colors to make everything pop out at the visitor.

If you plan on having a blog that is updated frequently, you need to have a search bar. You might not think that the bar really has that much of an impact on readers, but you aren’t considering the ones that will find your site after it has been up and running for a few years. Do you really want them to sit through and click back through all of your older posts just to see what else you covered? Let them search for the topics that interest them the most. You might even discover a popular trend on your site that you can take advantage of.

Every website has images on it, but are they optimized for both mobile and web? Many people fail to realize that there are millions of people that visit websites on a mobile device. If your images aren’€™t optimized for the right format, you will create longer load times, which may frustrate your visitors. Sometimes, the image size is just too large to load quickly, even when it is shrunk down. Many sites are optimized for both web and mobile surfing, so be sure that your website design is up to date and let people visit your site no matter where they are.

Lastly, be sure that everything on your site is streamlined. Eliminate any unnecessary pages or links for your visitors. If you can take them where they need to be in one click, why have them go through two other pages? Think about your audience and what they want. Once you are able to provide readers with the right content and the proper navigational tools, you’ll be on your way to internet fame.
