SEO copywriting

It takes a lot of skill to be an effective copywriter. It is usually something that takes a person a little time to learn and is learned by practicing it, and paying attention to competitors and what they are doing. Also, learning how to write copy for press releases, blogs, articles and websites is expected. Below are a few tips for SEO copywriting that you can follow as a beginner copywriter.

Valuable Content

Offer your readers content that will provide them the opportunity to experience clarify and learn about a service, product, opinion or position. Some things you should include that creates value in your content are a high detail level, organization, reader perspective, a birds-eye view, call to action and usability.

The content you provide should be valuable and give your readers information they can use. The readers’€™ experience should take a bunch of various levels of proficiency and knowledge with the topic into account. This is why it is a good idea to organize and define your thoughts. Beginning by determining who, what, where, why, when and how and then go into more detail of each point.

The Language

The use of language is essential and should not be underestimated when you are crafting content for your website. The writing style, using appropriate words and not using contradictions are a few aspects the copywriter needs to take into consideration when crafting content for their website. Web copy should be attention grabbing and concise. The readers will usually just scan the pages so you should be gaining their interest immediately or they will go to another website. It is also essential when writing web copy, that you are using the right tone to attract readers. Copywriters also need to adhere to any style guidelines and sales writing techniques that customers ask for.

Appeal to Speed Readers

Although copy that is longer appeals more to search engines and does better there are speed readers which you will have to cater to when creating your content. What this means is you will have to create content that will instantly grab their attention.

Use bold, italics, and color to catch the eyes of quick readers who are just skimming through your content while browsing. Providing detailed descriptions and images that convey your primary message will also work well for speed readers.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is essential in effective SEO copywriting. While crafting content, the copywriter needs to balance out the density of keywords they use to make it search engine friendly. Also, they need to make sure the content is flowing naturally and the keywords sound natural and are not over used. Keyword stuffing is the process of over using your keywords and is unfavorable to search engines.

Title Creation

When creating your title, get creative. Add in your keyword to your title which will help with your search engine ranking. By having a catchy title, it will ensure your readers click on your web copy and read it.

Internal Linking

Make both internal and external linking a habit. You can maximize your readership by linking an article from your website to another one. External linking helps to build up back links and provides credibility to your content.

These are just some tips for SEO copywriting; however, there are many out there that will help you with your web copy.

A very nice and informative post rachel. Effective use of keywords the best way to go for proper SEO, keyword should not be over used in your post otherwise it won’t look natural and would be treated as keyword stuffing. Anyways thanks for this informative post.

Some good points – I particularly agree with the “Appeal to Speed Readers”

I can sometimes read close to hundred posts per day – if they arent easy to read I dont continue
