Kv_official7 is one of the hot topics hailing from SouthEast London with his latest hit single ‘Body On Me’ gaining its structure sampled from early 20s single ‘Body On Me’ by Ashanti. The teenage superstar unveils his talent with a unique flow and catchy hook on a genre he likes to call “Afro drill”. His catchy hook has got thousands engaged having to listen on repeat as they got the song stuck in their head.
‘Body On Me’ remains one of his most streamed single till date after achieving a whopping 30 thousand streams on Spotify alone in one week after release and the numbers continue to increase. This hit single introduced new audience to his catalogue and served as a breakthrough at this point in his career, giving him the opportunity to unveil his cadence and love for music. It remains one of his biggest projects but he teases the release of a new song ’Tousie’ via instagram, an exciting tune featuring a jumpy type beat.
Kv_official7 is from a Nigerian background born to 2 Nigerian parents residing on the SouthEastern ends of London. The teenage sensation started making music from a young age during his secondary school days, recognising his talent from early. During school lunch he would organise a cypher with a couple of his mates as they showcase their freestyle talent, but KayVee always stood out due to his style of music.
He had always embraced his Nigerian culture and made the most of his accent creating a unique flow, causing him to get teased as they called him “Aff” and “African boy”. He would laugh and carry on and that confidence is what has caused the light to shine on him.
After the completion of secondary school, the teenage talent embarked on his music journey fully, engaging in a world if rhythm and flows chasing his dreams and showcasing his talent. Within a couple weeks after school he debuted his single “Get Down On it” in which he expresses some well crafted riddles and word play.
Releasing new song became a consistent practice and his latest single became his third released single following ‘Nicolas Jackson’
Kv_official7 grew up listening to Afrobeats on a daily basis, in parties on TV, or just casual streaming. His love for this genre of music grew rapidly influencing his music taste, however it wasn’t an easy trend to set trying to create that genre of music in London especially whiles being an underground artist. He decided to blend the London trend (drill) and his Afro passion creating a unique Afrodrill genre.
Doing further research into this genre he soon discovered the likes of JHus and Mostack who are flourishing in this genre. Kv_official7 was also exposed to the likes of NSG, Darkoo, and Swarmz who are all Afroswing artists. Inspired by these artists Kv_official7 decided to follow in their footsteps and on that journey he cane across the producer 8key who is specialised is creating Afroswing/Afrodrill type beats. They soon created a friendship and worked hand in hand together. With further research it was evident that these genre of songs excel the most during the summer times, with that in mind Kv_official7 made the most of the summer in which he released most of his songs.
‘Body On Me’ was a project worked on for over a year, having to constantly shape it by changing some lyrics and words. The initial hook on the song wasn’t as exciting as the actual release, changing the hook was “the final piece of the puzzle” and that was the breakthrough of the song. It became the part that got everyone hooked on as it was catchy and easy to learn.
The song features a sample from the 2008 release of ‘Body on Me’ by Ashanti, reproduced by 8key into a modern day Afroswing type beat with a melodic rhythm. Kv_official7 uses this song to express his head thoughts and the lonely struggle independent artists face during their come up, due to the fact that people had lot to say to him however his foundation was built on confidence which helped him to remain unfazed by the comments.
The teenage sensation also expresses his love for a girl who tried to persuade by claiming to be better than her ex and promising to go wherever she wants to be. He then brags about it on the hook claiming “if that’s your girl tell me why she got her body on me”. After writing the song it was peer reviewed by his mate MikesNwamah who appeared in the credits of the song as a co-writer.
The teenage talent also took to Instagram and TikTok to tease a new project; Tousie, That he’s been working on. An Afrodrill music featuring a jumpy type beat as he increases the intensity of the summer heat hoping to get listeners on their feet. Tousie is an exciting prospect and you wouldn’t wanna miss out on that.
Kv_official7 also showcased a project he was working on as he introduced a snippet of his verse on a song with JayTeddy an artist hailing all the way from Nigeria. The snippet featured an Afropiano type beat, it is evident that the teenage sensation has a lot of potential and exciting projects under his catalogue.
Since the release of his hit single ‘Body on Me’ Kv_official7 has had 3 public performances with which he tried to create recognition for his single. The first performance being an in house performance on a local theatre another in a nightclub and the third on an open mic event organised by AntiComplex.
During these performances the teenage talent never failed to turn up with his contagious high energy, with which he got the crowd involved in his performance as they sang along after only just hearing the song for the first time.
