The Importance of Hiring Emergency Electrician

An electrician is involved with the repairing and servicing of electrical appliances, wiring and electrical maintenance. Their job is integral to our day to day life. We cannot manage a life without electricity. All our technological advances will mean nothing if we did not have electricity. An electrician services electrical needs. The mathematics behind the working of electricity is complicated. It is measured in volts and is a function of current, voltage and resistance.

The importance of these men

Electricity has ruled the world ever since Benjamin Franklin rediscovered electricity. Electricity is powerful. It can fuel our thirst for technology, and also our need to have the latest technological gadgets. Electricity powers it all. However, as much as electricity can power things, it can also burn things and endanger lives. Unfortunately, there are many such events that take place. Residential mishaps due to electrical wirings or appliances are one of the leading causes of home accidents. Such mishaps are deadly. A faulty wiring can result in a short circuit. What will happen if the short circuit leads to a large fire or even a large explosion?

Importance of an emergency electrician

Sometimes we are lucky if the problem comes to notice before you even face an accident. In that case, the homeowner can immediately shut off power to prevent further damage and danger. What happens then? Regular electricians are available during normal work hours and sometimes for extended work hours. However, in case of emergency, we need to call in an emergency electrician. Emergency electricians are on-call electricians available 24/7, 365 days a year. Most companies or contractors can send in their emergency electricians within the hour.

Most emergency electricians work by the following principles:

  • These electricians arrive within the hour 90% of the time.
  • Minor parts and materials for the emergency service are mostly included.
  • Focus on mitigating the risk as quickly as possible.

It is very important to be able to differentiate some electrical repairs over others. In order to understand what is risky and what isn’t could mean life and death. Some risks pose a greater risk because it could result in property damage or loss of life. Here are some common issues we may face at home that warrants for emergency electrician:

  • Exposed wires:
If you see any exposed wires, then you should take this as a serious alarm. Exposed wires can result in electrocution and it could pose an increased threat of fire. If you face this issue, it is best to cordon off the area for safety and wait until the emergency electrician arrives.
  • When water and wire come into contact:
This is a very serious situation. Sometimes during a blackout, it can be hard to see the water. If you see a pool of water near any wiring, it is important to be careful and avoid it entirely. When water comes in contact with electrical wiring, there is a great risk of electrocution. If you experience a blackout, always carry a torch or candlelight when walking around.
  • When an electrical socket is smoking:
When you see smoke from a socket, it could result in a fire. It is important to immediately call the emergency electrician.
  • Switches or outlets are warm to touch:
The problem could be due to heavy demand on the circuit, or something far more dangerous. Make sure that you immediately call your emergency electrician.

As a homeowner, it is very important to understand what kind of situation warrants calling an emergency electrician. Since as consumers of electrical appliances we may not know much about the working of electricity, it is better to be safe than sorry. Older homes are especially vulnerable, as they are hard-pressed to function in today’s electrical demands. Hope you like the above-mentioned info! If you still want to know more about the emergency electrician, then let’s go to details and get more useful information.

    Nice tips there Melissa,
there are 2 emergency guys that I always dash to when there is a problem at home. The electrician and the plumber. I also like the fact that they are near our place and they usually arrive within 20 minutes or so. I would also advise anyone looking for an emergency electrician to consider the distance and the location of the providers. The nearer the better.
Thanks a lot for the great share.

An electrician should have liability insurance so they are covered if they or anyone else is hurt during or as a result of their work, or if property or fittings are damaged.

Well thought out article Melissa, I would also recommend doing “electrical inspections” (without touching anything of course) every now and then to look out for things BEFORE they become an emergency.

They realize the potential risks of substandard electric power. Each time obligation calls, they absolutely realize that swift motion is necessary. Specialist unexpected emergency electricians waste no time but rush to in which they are essential.

Maintenance should be done from time to time to avoid bigger problems that you can prevent earlier. And landlords should be reminded of this.

Having an electrician on hand you can call is great especially in an emergency where you cannot do the repair yourself. All homeowners and landlords should have at least one emergency maintenance person.

    Hii,

Thank you for sharing with us.it is important to have a reliable emergency electrician in your phone list just in case anything goes wrong.Diagnosing an electrical problem that is not so obvious can be very difficult when you’re not an expert. For instance, if the trip switch is constantly being triggered, you may not be able to easily tell which circuit or appliance is faulty.

In contrast, an experienced electrician would be able to identify the problem in a short space of time and provide a safe and effective solution. So, you should always be prepare and have an emergency number with you so that you can easily solve your problem.

The equipment of the technician is rarely checked by a customer. Of course, most of the times, customers are no longer aware of what he will use to fix whatever electrical damage they may have at home. However, a good electrician would always have everything on hand so as to carry out various tasks.

I’d like to thank you for your explanation that in times of emergency, we just need to immediately shut off the power. One of our extensions has been damaged and exploded. And that is what I did the moment it happened. I am now looking for an electrician to fix the faulty wiring for us.

Hiring an emergency electrician might be expensive but in order for you to save or to have your problem solved efficiently, hire an electrician with a good background and reputation and has a good rating. It’s better to be sure who you hire than to be sorry for the poor job when you hire the wrong person. Also, emergency electricians exist in order to aid people having an emergency electrical problem that needs urgent attention.

I wasn’t aware that faulty wiring could lead to a short circuit which could then cause a fire or explosion. My husband and I have been making some changes to our home and have done some of the wirings ourselves. Now I think we should call an emergency electrician to make sure everything is functioning properly and to avoid potential danger.
