How To Market Your Mobile Apps

Entrepreneurs tend to have natural inclinations toward a specific aspect of business operations. For example, some entrepreneurs are extremely visionary and innovative. These types of entrepreneurs are often good not only at strategy and product development, but also marketing and sales. Other entrepreneurs are extremely technical, such as Mark Zuckerberg. These entrepreneurs are often completely out of touch with what makes good marketing. Instead, they focus on simply creating incredible products.

Entrepreneurs who do not possess innate marketing skills often face significant challenges. There is an old adage in business that you can develop the absolute best product or service in the entire marketplace, but if no one knows about, you will be none the richer! In this article, we are going to discuss simple steps one can take to increase the visibility and market exposure of mobile apps.

Create A Great Product

On his deathbed Steve Jobs challenged Google co-founder Sergey Brin to not become Microsoft and begin creating bad products. Of course, many would argue that Microsoft’s products are not bad, but Jobs point was that creating great products should always remain a central focus. If you want to market any product, including a brand new mobile app, rule number one is the product must be clean, bug-free, and marketable. This will greatly increase the chance of someone utilizing smartphone credit card processing accounts to buy your app.

Grassroots Exposure

Social media has put an end to the days of having to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to market new products. In today’s world of blogs, Facebook, and Twitter, it’s possible to market your product at nearly no cost. The most effective way to do this is to begin researching the web in order to find 10 of the most highly regarded blogs in your space. Contact each of them with a personal email and provide them with a free app and ask for a review. Do not make the mistake of sending a stock email to all 10. Read over their blog and write to them personally. This will significantly increase the chances of getting them to bite.

Offer A Free Version

If you are not running a “freemium” model to monetize your app, consider offering a Free Version that provides users with the necessary tools in order to understand what the app does and what it is capable of doing, but not too much that users can stay on the Free Version forever. Make it essential for interested customers to shell out cash for the paid app.

Write A Tantalizing Description

Way too many apps in the Android and Apple store have pathetic one line descriptions. In the app store, a seller is competing against thousands of sellers. It’s important to stand out. Make sure the description is engaging and informative. The point of the description is just as much to get someone to buy or try the Free Version as it is to simply inform them of the app’s features. If sales language is not your strong point, reach out to friends for help or consider paying for freelance assistance.

Marketing an app does not have to cost thousands of dollars. By taking these common sense steps, app developers will be positioning themselves for increased market exposure.

Thanks for the great info. I liked the idea of free version and for later features we can offer a psid version. This is what the present market is all about.
