Father’s Day Tech Gifts for Your Tech-Savvy Dad

Father’s Day is around the corner, which means you have yet another chance to impress your dad with that one perfect gift. We know, it can be a challenge! The good news is that for those of you with tech-savvy fathers, there’s an abundance of riches to choose from this year. Yes, admittedly, these gifts can be a bit on the pricey side, but hey, that’s what siblings are for, right? These gifts are all but guaranteed to elicit a smile from those tech-savvy dads out there. And isn’t that priceless?

Nintendo Switch

Ask any hardcore gamer, and they will tell you that the Nintendo Switch is worth buying simply for the chance to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This open world title features gorgeous graphics and art design, a nearly limitless playing experience, and a whole new take on a beloved character. But that isn’t the only reason your dad will enjoy the Switch. The console features a number of novel game modes, which you can “switch” back and forth between. This allows gamers to play from their television or the included tablet; try that with a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Think of the Switch as an untethered video game console that dad can play from anywhere.

Beats by Dre Headphones

Whether your father is an audiophile, frequent traveler, gamer, or simply someone who enjoys listening to music while exercising, you will be hard pressed to find better (or cooler) headphones than those from Beats by Dre. With noise cancelling headphones, ear buds, wireless headphones, and even wireless ear buds on offer, you have ample selection from which to choose. And ample ways to pay, as well. For example, if you or your father have a T-Mobile plan, you can purchase Beats by Dre on a payment plan, right from your wireless provider. So you have no excuse not to buy them!

iPad Pro

An iPad Pro is not an inexpensive gift, but boy is it worth the price! The 12.9-inch iPad Pro offers unparalleled picture quality and clarity, for a vastly improved user experience over older versions of the device. For watching movies and YouTube videos, playing mobile games, browsing the web, and accomplishing everyday tasks, you will find that the iPad Pro is hard to beat. If your dad is still using a desktop computer or an old laptop, he will be blown away. Suffice to say, you will have one happy father on Father’s Day. It’s worth mentioning that if the 12.9-inch version is a bit too steep for you and your siblings, there’s always the 9.7-inch version.

Amazon Echo

Though recently satirized on Saturday Night Live to hilarious results, there’s no doubt that the Amazon Echo can be terrifically useful around the house. Plus, if your father is tech-savvy, let’s assume his experience with the Echo won’t be so confounding – he’ll actually know how to use it! Amazon markets the Echo as a Bluetooth speaker, but in reality, it is so much more than that. In fact, it’s more of a personal digital assistant. Simply call out “Alexa,” and the Echo will do any number of things. Just a sample of those things include play music on cue, make phone calls, provide weather and news updates, or even order items off of Amazon. Echo is as close as you can get to Rosey the Robot.

Fitbit

If your father is a fitness buff or has lamented that he’d like to get back in shape, it’s hard to beat a Fitbit. Quite simply, it’s still one of the best fitness trackers on the market, and the company makes them in all shapes and sizes to meet your needs. The Fitbit also has the benefit of being one of the most affordable items on this list, with fitness trackers starting below $60. Best of all, even the most basic of Fitbits will enable your father to record workout activity, compete in challenges, log food purchases and calories burned, and earn badges. For a fun, engaging, and effective way to stay motivated and accountable, Fitbit is the obvious choice – and it won’t break the bank either.

DJI Spark

Drones. They’re everywhere these days. Snapping spy photos of movie sets. Crashing inside baseball stadiums. And reinventing the selfie as we know it. There’s a reason they’re catching on in popularity though – they’re really fun! Not to mention novel and useful in surprising ways. The latest entry in the ever burgeoning drone marketplace is the DJI Spark. What sets the Spark apart, beyond its relatively affordable starting price of just $500, is that it is designed to be incredibly small, portable, and easy to use. The drone has autopilot functions pre-installed and can be activated with hand gestures, via a controller, or even from a smartphone. Add to that a built-in camera, and it’s sure to give Dad all new ways of documenting family vacations!
