I meant are you Subway Surfing? Or do you Temple Run?
Or do you just sit and crush the candies all the time?
You don’t?
Let me ask these questions then. Answers to these would definitely be yes;
Is your face in the wrong book all the time? Or do you tweet even more than a bird?
Answers are positive this time, right?
Again, a NO? Then believe me you; you are rare specie.
Data show, we all are crawled up by these tiny devilish square shaped applications, BADLY. (No, I am not referring to you, THE ONE IN A MILLION)
Let me share some statistics to prove my point here!
If you are reading this article using one of the mobile apps installed in your phone, then you are among those 78% people who use mobile apps more than they browse on their phones.
Is your television on? Then you are among those 85% people, who use their phones while watching T.V. While, if you are on the other side of the majority, I know you are the same rarest of rare! But, whichever side you are, you would agree to this fact that the mobile apps are addictive as hell.
Some more data!
Since 2008 when App stores came into existence, there has been an outburst of mobile apps. Google Play Store, alone has 13,000,000 apps. These apps are so popular that the word “app” was listed as the “Word of the Year” in 2010 by American Dialect Society.
There are apps to dig up such statistics as well!
We are conditioned to these apps so much that we talk the app-language; and live in the app-world.
At Starbucks! Let me check-in first, coffee can wait!
Stuck with a math problem! No worries, my personal math app will solve it!
The apps are just everywhere, and for every need of ours. You are a gaming-freak; they have game apps for you. Want to socialize? Go for social networking apps. Self-obsessed? They have photo-editing apps. Whoever you are, they have an app for you!
But my concern is different. I haven’t written this article to show you N number of statistics which every other research site shows. I want you all to answer this last question for me (I promise no more self- questioning after this), even after spending 29 hours a day on these little apps, deep inside, do we miss the time when there were NO apps and no complexities?
No, No! Not the age without phones. Travel a tad back!
I am talking about the phones with the ‘Snake’ game.
Do we miss playing it? (A day back our boss told us to find him a Nokia 6340i. Yes, that big filthy phone! And you know why? Because he wants to play the old-is-ever-gold ‘Snake’ game and I got a topic to write on!) Yes we definitely do!
And why so?
BECAUSE . . . We loved its simplicity, and the joy it brought to us. All that love is lost somewhere in this App world.
The irony is: we searched for the NOKIA 6340i through our phone’s installed Quickr App.
