6 Places of Tourist Attraction in Mount Abu

Mount Abu formerly known as, Arbudaanchal and belonging to the Aravali range, is the only hill station in Rajasthan. Lying to the south of the state, nearby to Gujrat, it belongs to Rajasthan’s Sirohi district. This place is of great interest to historians and archaeologists from across the globe, as it is a medieval site.  Due to its height, this place has a lot of lakes, rivers, trees and greenery around. And because of this quality, it is very commonly referred to as “an oasis in the desert”.

Nakki Lake

This is a very famous lake in the Mount Abu region of Rajasthan. It has a lot of intriguing mythical stories behind the formation of this lake. While one story says the hole in the ground was dug out by the Hindu gods and goddesses, in order to take shelter from an evil demon, there are others that light a fire of interest in one’s heart about the place. Nevertheless, the place is a beauty and must not be missed while touring Mount Abu. What adds to the glory of this place, is that Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in this lake. A monument has been constructed in honor of the father of our nation, The Gandhi Ghat, which is of great tourist importance in Mount Abu.

Dilwara Jain temples

Dilwara temple is a complex of many temples which are built out of marble and is very popular for its intricate design. Built between the 11th and 13th century, it makes you wonder about how advanced the craftsmen would have been back then. Guru Shikhar

This is the highest point in the Aravali mountain range. Most of the tourists visit this location to visit the very famous Dattatreya temple situated on top. Dattatreya is the incarnation of the Hindu lords Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva in one. Apart from this, there are other temples as well. But the place is more than just a pilgrimage centre. Toad Rock

Highlights: Trekking and hiking.

A great place to visit, for all adventure enthusiasts. You can trek to this place in about 45 to 60 minutes. You will be awarded for your trel, with a magnificent view of the region of Mount Abu, from the top. This place is called so because, there is a stone, naturally shaped like a toad. Making it easy to remember. A little away from the shutterbugs, this place still sees quite a few tourists and travellers.

    Great article about Mt Abu. I think you need to add Achalgarh Fort, Bailey’s Walk, Trevors Tank & Zipline Adventure Park also.
