For most bloggers and Website owners, there is one pertinent question that always goes on and on in their minds and that is in relation to increasing visitors to their sites. Just like the saying ” If wishes were horses, beggars would ride”, a lot of us can only wish that there was a red button somewhere which automatically generates tons of quality Web traffic with little or no effort. However, with several million Websites on the Internet today, it is no surprise that competition is rife and only the fittest will survive. The following are therefore three important ways (which are not often mentioned) of making sure that your Website or Weblog gets as many traffic as possible from the World Wide Web.
Stand Out From The Crowd
The title says it all; it is absolutely self-explanatory. Consider an overcrowded setting where you want to get noticed, what do you do? Simple answer is behave differently from others, do something that is not common, make the loudest noise. So then, when it comes to getting more visitors to your site from the US or anywhere, you have to constantly think outside the box. Do something different every time. Take it or leave it, originality really does count. I could give a few examples of ways to do that but then it won’t be so unique anymore 🙂
Increase Your Reputation
There is no better way to improve your reputation other than standing for something you believe in. Become known as a specialist in your field. Be controversial. Hook up with other high-ranking or similarly ambitious Web owners who are not satisfied with being where there are. As a researcher, I know that the value of your thesis depends on not only the amount of references you have but the quality also and that is where you have to know not to increase backlinks just for the sake of it but rather do so with those who matter by all means.
Respect Those Before You
There is a popular saying that you have to give honour to whom honour is due. Well, one of the biggest mistakes some of us make is not actually giving any thought, consideration or indeed value to the opinions and advice of more experienced bloggers. Experience cannot simply be bought and you do not always have to go through the entire process yourself. Hence, in this business it is extremely important to be willing to learn from those who have been in it longer than you. Thirst for knowledge. Learn, learn and learn some more.
Talking Point
What other uncommon ways can one increase the popularity of a Website or blog?

Great post, all very good points. Standing out is a tough one but definitely effective. I agree guest writers with fresh content can generate more traffic. Teaming up with people from other SEO companies can increase traffic to your sites and blogs. With over 400 changes to Google’s search algorithm per year, there are many uncommon techniques out there.

But being *original, reputable and respectful* is so haaaaaard 🙂
Even in real life.
I just feel sorry for those who think there’s something _unusual_ in being original, reputable and respectful;)

Point number 1 & 2 both are connected to each other. Page title is like a company slogan which should appeal the reader in first look. Title should tempt the user to know what’s behind tile. Second point is more important, If there is no product quality or useful content user wont bother again about the appealing title. Guest posts can be an other option to make a good reputation.

If you want more traffic, strive for repeat visitors. Regulars make a site and they also spread word about the site and bring in more visitors.

i would add one more point, I have noticed if you follow famous bloggers and comment on their latest posts, you will also get noticed by others they will reply to your suggestions and give helpful tips. If you add something valuable, then certainly people will click your link from the comment to follow. Just Sharing my 2 cents! Nice post by admin 🙂

I think every webmaster wants more traffic to their website. I agree with you when you mention increasing your reputation to increase traffic. Once you have a good reputation in your field people will look at you as an authority figure and this will lead to you developing a loyal following.
When your reputation is good people will send traffic to your site for you by recommending your content and what you have to offer. I think another great way you can increase the traffic on your site is by participating on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

We’ve got to pay dues those who were before us bacause this way we can learn a lot more than if we are arrogant and we don’t coun’t with anyone, and of course than more likely it will be that someone will try to destroy you.

Hi,
There are a lot of factors to follow and rules to respect. Like you said – stand out from the crowd, it is one of the best ways to increase trafic, think of it like this: why would anyone visit my website upon a competitor of mine on the same niche ? What’s so special and unique about my website ? Why should I deserve more trafic upon one of my competitors ? Those are great questions that you must answer yourself being sincerely, answer the questions then start working harder and better, try to focus more on your work and don’t think non-stop about the money, keep the passion for your work on. Thank you very much for sharing this excellent article, keep up the good work !
Best regards,
Maria

Everybody wants traffic but targeted traffic is better. A small but targeted traffic is better as a high “normal” traffic. For my sites i use guest posts for more targeted traffic. It is simple and effective.

When it comes to targeted traffic, you have to choose wisely because although the internet is vast with several million users worldwide, if your targeted area is saturated you might find it a little hard to make any kind of progress.

Good post for beginners. Another important thing to note is that good, solid, consistently helpful content for your readers is the most important. As you get more links in and more traffic, people will often check out your blog homepage.

Some good pieces of advice you’ve got there. I think that sharing, lots of sharing is also a good way to increase traffic. It might not be an unusual way but it does the trick. Start with your friends and family and encourage them to “spread the word”.

I find your posting very true. Since the recent google algorithm change and update. Many farm or spam blogs have been penalized and taken down. Therefore, it is wise to stand out of the crowd as you mentioned. Not only that, your content has to be able to communicate to the web users and make them stay in order to keep your rankings. I suppose your particular blog has it and i look forward coming back to this site. Cheers.

I totally agree with the ideas you have mentioned. But I got another suggestion for bloggers to find blogs that are of similar topics and ask for link exchange. They could go to blog directories and then go to the category their blog belongs to and then visit other blogs. Post comments and then contact the blog owner. I like this method because similar blogs tend to attract the same targeted groups and thus are more likely to lead referrals. And by the way, bloggers could submit their blogs to directories and get more traffic.

Be controversial is the key in increasing your blog’s popularity online. There are many blogs now that are talking the same thing over and over again. If you are not controversial, you will not be noticed.

I agree with Raymund a little bit but been controversial at times might not work for all bloggers….because if you’re targeting a particular group of traffic (niche based) and you’re controversial, you will certainly get more traffic but not all of them will be a loyal one. So, been controversial and putting out the right information to the right people that needs it is one of the key that guarantees success in attracting more traffic to your blog.

How about looking at it this way Wale; being controversial can go in two ways – however, if you do it rightly there is the potential of getting a kind of viral effect whereby many more people will recommend your article to others. Remember what they say about celebrities that do anything to get to the headlines – “any publicity is good publicity”.

I have found that by engaging in social media I can get a trickle of traffic but this is nothing compared to what I get from Google. You just need to always offer value – even if you’re selling something – offer value. It’s not hard to stand out if you try 🙂

Thanks for these great tips! I definitely agree with you that originality goes a long way and can be the determining factor of whether your site will be successful or not. Two people could have the same exact information, but the one who is more creative and original in how they put that information on their site will get more views than the one with a common web template.

I usually just make youtube video. That is a very good way to drive traffic to your site.
It’s easy (if you make videos every so often) and all you need to do is put your link in the description, first thing.
I have seen a Google PR increase of 3 over the past year doing this.

I still have lots to learn. I know it’s never easy to stand out from the crowd because there are millions out there who would want to do that. I think listening and taking advice from the others before me is a good way to make a reputation.
