How to Study While Traveling
Nowadays more and more people want to study a new language because they understand that speaking several languages will be an asset while finding a well-paid, decent job. It will also come in handy if you travel a lot and you need to know at least the English language to feel comfortable and confident in case you have to solve some problems.
What are the Ways to Study any Language?
No doubt the cheapest way to explore a language is to do it yourself. Nowadays the Internet can offer a lot of materials to study any language you like. You can download different books as well as lots of video materials. And off you go! One of the problems with this method is that at the beginning you feel full of beans, your intention is strong, and you are sure you will succeed in studying. But as a rule, such enthusiasm fades away in several weeks or months. It turns out that you have more important things on your plate and you start putting off your lessons till doomsday. There is no one to control you, and you gradually become lazy bones.
The best way to have a good command of any language is to study it with a native speaker. Let’s say you study Japanese. Who can tell if your pronunciation is ok? Very few non-native speakers can boast of the perfect pronunciation. It’s obvious that only a specially trained Japanese teacher can teach you how to speak Japanese and how to get to grips with complicated Japanese calligraphy.
Another possibility is to take some courses. This way is undoubtedly better. You just have to choose a firm that offers good services at reasonable prices. Attending courses, you will have an opportunity to master a language with a teacher and you will be spared the trouble of finding all materials by yourself. Moreover, the whole studying process will be under control. At the courses, there will be an experienced teacher who will guide the whole process and will make some corrections if needed. The problem with courses is that sometimes you have to study in very large groups and it means that a teacher won’t be able to devote you much time, control the whole process of studying and correct all your mistakes.
And here comes the question.
What is the Best and the Most Enjoyable Way of Studying a Language?
From my own experience, I can say that the best and the most enjoyable way to study a language is to study it while travelling. If you want to properly learn a language, you should go to the country where it is spoken. You can learn the language every minute of the day whenever surrounded by people, being completely immersed in the language environment. Not only travelling gives you an excellent opportunity to improve your skills, but it also gives you an insight into the culture of the country. And this will help you understand some aspects and peculiarities of the language you want to speak. You will gain valuable knowledge of the language. Moreover, you will undoubtedly make new friends and you will be able to continue your communication while being at home via the Internet or mobile phone.
As you see, there are different ways of studying. And it’s only up to you to choose what way is the most convenient and enjoyable one for you. As they say, every man is to his taste. But if you ask my opinion – the most effective and the fastest way to learn a language is by going to the country where it is spoken. And the most enjoyable one.
