Microsoft Windows 7 Release Date Confirmed

windows7Microsoft has finally announced the official release date of their new operating system (OS). Members of the public will now be able to buy Windows 7 from 22 October 2009. Users of the new OS will not have to pay for new hardware as it will be compatible with its predecessor (Windows Vista). In addition, customers who purchase a new Vista computer after the official release date will be offered free upgrade to the new OS in order to compensate Microsoft retail partners and computer manufacturers’.

Furthermore, in a bid to limit compatibility problems, Windows Vista will be directly compatible with the new OS and possess similar system requirements that will be attuned to existing hardware and software programs. The operating system has been described as simpler and easy to use by most of its beta testers across the globe. The final stage in the build up to the official release date is the “release-to-manufacturing (RTM)” phase expected to start between July and August 2009.

Why are Microsoft releasing a brand new OS? They’ve only jsu released Vista. I think they’re obsessed with rebranding – look at Live/Bing.

Seems to me like a way of keeping their brand more relevant as they get more competition from other big IT organisations.

Atlast the wait is over. And I hope this would be a great success after the failure of windows vista.

I have been using the trial of Win 7 and am quite happy with it. Barely had any problems at all. I think I’ll switch from Vista to Win 7 once it’s officially released.

I hope they work out most of the bugs by then, or many people will not be saying, “I’m a PC.” And yes Microsoft must always rebrand and I think they are trying to distance themselves from Vista somewhat.

I’m not sure if distancing themselves from their own product (flawed or not) does them any favours.

I have not yet finished working with vista and they release another OS, I don’t think I have to shift to window7 this too soon.

Could it be possible that some users might experience some problems with Windows 7 as this new OS is not compatible with some existing softwares? However this is a very nice post you have here. I really love it.
