Wireless communication devices continue to evolve with the emerging demands for high spectral efficiency and high data rate services. 3G mobile systems are already commercially available in many countries to meet the demand of packet-based services. However, 3G services were not sufficient to meet the ever increasing demand, and that’s why, 4G wireless communication services are being introduced.
The industry has benefited from the increasing demand for smartphones. More than 50% of the users in the United States own a smartphone. Developments have not been limited to developed countries. An example is Afghan wireless founded by Ehsan Bayat of Ehsan Bayat Foundation
Few applications that have been enabled by this technology in the past few years include smart homes and appliances, automated highway systems, internet-enabled cell phones, distance learning and multimedia internet-enabled cell phones and autonomous sensor networks.
Here are a few examples of wireless communication devices, and their benefits.
1. Wireless routers
Wireless routers have grown in popularity overtime. With routers, you can connect to a network from any remote location, without any wires and cables. They increase privacy and security through firewall configuration. The VoIP technology allows you to connect to the internet with any smartphone.
2. Bluetooth
This technology has also evolved over the years. Bluetooth 4.0 is the newest version of this technology. Bluetooth 4.0 is more energy efficient compared to its previous versions. It’s also making a big impact in the health and fitness market, with devices like Motorola MOTACTV, Basis Band and Fitbit wireless trainer integrating the technology.
3. NFC devices
NFC wireless technology operates is an approved open platform technology which operates on an unlicensed radio frequency band. It works through a magnetic field induction. The technology relies on NFC chips in devices and NFC tags in general. This technology is easy to use, as it requires devices to be close to each other or touch each other quickly. It is being introduced on a large number of applications, and recently found its way to ticketing apps, healthcare centers and coupon collection centers.
4. 4G LTE
4G LTE technology is being integrated into devices such as USB modems, smartphones and tablets. This technology has been improved over the previous ‘3G’ and brings wider coverage, faster data transfers, service plans designed to fit a variety of budgets.
Innovations will continue to be made in international wireless communication devices over the next few years. The recent advancements in nanotechnology applications, such as quantum cryptography, coding and information, will play a major role in the making of future wireless communication devices.

Even though NFC is wireless, for it to work two devices has be very close to each other. (less than 4 cm). While the other can work within few 100 meters range.
Nice post BTW. Thanks
