Limited storage is an irritating issue if it can’t be expanded or limited to specific Gigabytes. The very first idea that hits our mind is to free up space in our phone by removing preloaded apps that are consuming lot of space and yet of no use. These apps are actually preloaded into smartphones during its manufacturing and can’t be uninstalled like other user-installed applications. A lot of Android users face this similar problem that takes us to today’s primary question- is there any way that can help you remove these useless system applications from your Android smartphone? Well there is, in fact there are plenty and over the entire course of this article we’ll be discussing some of the ways in which you can remove those annoying preloaded apps from your Android phone.
There are two things that you can do with preloaded system apps; you can either disable these apps or delete them permanently. We’ve described both methods below, read on to know more.
Blocking or Disabling Apps
Blocking or disabling apps can be useful for all those who don’t want to root their devices mainly due to warranty or some other issues. For Blocking these apps follow the step-by-step guide below:
- Pick up your phone and go to system settings.
- Next, open the application menu so that you can find all the apps installed on your phone.
- Select the app you want to disable or block and click ‘uninstall updates’ option. Once updates are uninstalled you’ll see the ‘disable’ option instead of ‘uninstall updates’, tap the disable option and your app will be disable permanently.
Also note that this option works only for system apps since for user apps only ‘uninstall’ option is available.
Deleting Apps Entirely
There are lots of ways to delete preloaded apps but we found the following method effective and easy. However, before you begin, we want to warn you about the fact that removing your preloaded or system apps from your phone may cause your phone to behave unexpectedly. We’ll suggest you apply this method to only those applications which you’re sure of. So, proceed at your own risk.
In addition, you can apply this method only if you’re rooted. If your phone isn’t rooted yet, we’ll suggest you look for a rooting guide over the internet and first root your phone.
Now, the easiest way is to download Titanium Backup and use its inbuilt advance option to remove/uninstall your app right away. You can even backup the application using titanium backup before uninstalling. For that follow these steps:
- Open titanium backup and go to ‘Backup/Restore’ tab.
- Next choose one of the desired app from the list of apps and create a backup (optional) of it.
- Finally choose the ‘uninstall’ option.
- Once uninstallation process is over, a notification will be pushed up to your status bar by titanium backup application.
As you can see, there are a lot of ways around to remove preloaded apps which are complex. Let me know if you face any sort of problems with the methods highlighted in this article.
