Every time technology advances, some people will find ways to use it that are less than scrupulous. One of these ways is the use of special programs to spy on the mobile phone activities of a person without making them aware of what is going on. Since many of these programs are undetectable, how can you know if someone is spying you on? Here are a few things to consider when determining if spy programs are installed on your phone:
Has someone had access to your phone?
In order to install a spy program, someone has to have access to your phone. It only takes a minute or two to install, however, so this could be accomplished in the time it takes to make a phone call or install a ringtone. If nobody has had physical access to your phone, you are safe from spy programs.
Has there been an unexplained increase in your data usage on your phone bill?
Since spy programs transfer data through GPRS or other connections, this will create a higher level of data traffic from your phone. If you notice such a change on your bill, a spy program may be at the root of the program.
Are you experiencing poor battery life?
If your talk or standby time has decreased for no apparent reason, this could be an indication that your phone has a spy program. Since these programs are always running in the background, regularly collecting data, and uploading that data, they use a great deal of energy and can cause a tremendous decrease in your battery life.
Is your phone slow or unresponsive during shutdowns?
When you have a spy program installed on your phone, the running program can cause you to have difficulty in shutting down your phone.
Have you noticed unexplained Web icons?
Since the spy programs transfer data over the Internet, your phone will likely display an icon showing that you are connected to the Internet. If you notice such a flashing icon even when you aren’t browsing the Web, you probably have a spy program running.
If you notice these telltale signs of a spy program, immediately take your phone to the store where you bought it and have your operating system reinstalled. Even though the above tips will help you determine that a spy program may have been installed on your phone. They are no guarantee that this is true, however, and you could possible have a spy program without seeing these signs. The best possible precaution for you to take is to keep your phone secure and locked at all times, preventing anyone from installing such a program.
Spy programs are the basest form of privacy invasion. After all, nobody wants all of their personal actions to be monitored by someone else. Keep your phone secure and closely monitor anyone you allow to use your phone, regardless of who they are. If someone has used your phone and you are noticing any unexplained changes, take the safe route and get your OS reinstalled immediately
Hi Andrew. The common characteristic of a spy program is that it will make the phone slow, unresponsive & sometimes sudden shut down despite the battery is full. I saw it from my experience.
Those are some real good parameters you have listed out to analyse if the phone is attacked. The battery draining off is something that I was of the opinion that it could potentially be a hardware issue. The apps running on the background did not come to my mind at all! Thanks for the great insight!
I tried a lot exploring it on my Apple 4S but then I find it too difficult to get any of it? Should I root my file? What I should do? Is there any custom ROM available to flash my phone?
I think that the features of the cellphone is one of the reason why phones gets slow in detecting programs. Thanks for sharing this informational topic.
Notice whether you experience trouble when shutting off your phone or whether your phone continues to stay lit up for several seconds to a minute after you’ve shut it off and also want to notice whether the icon that shows the Internet connection activates several times a day for no reason, these are the notifications to detect spy program in cell phone 🙂
Thanks for sharing your useful tips, actually I haven’t known that there could be spy programs on my smartphone as well. From now on I have to be more careful.
Very useful information about the sky program. Although I have not yet used this program but this post is very helpful for me in future.
You could do another thing before taking the phone to the store: make a factory reset. This way you get rid of the spy app and better yet, you don’t have to wait 2-3 weeks until your phone comes back from the service.
Excellent comment Alec. Correct Nolan.
