Google Pixel vs. iPhone – Final Showdown

Soon, Apple is going to launch the new iPhone 8. It is believed that the launching could happen as soon as next month. Insiders say that the new iPhone 8 is an all-new, all-glass design whose design was greatly inspired by the iPhone 4S. It features a dual-sensor camera and an edge-to-edge OLED display.

Rumours indicate that the phone has a hidden Touch ID scanner and a 3D face scanning technology. On the other hand, Google’s Pixel and pixel XL were designed to replace the Nexus generation with a couple of desirable devices running on pure Android OS. Of the two smartphones, Pixel is the smaller one, and its price tag puts it in the same category as iPhone. The big question is, how does Google’s Pixel compare to the latest model of iPhone? Read on for an in-depth comparison of the two devices which can help you decide which one is the better model for you.

Google Pixel vs. iPhone 7: Design

You would say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder which put to rest the question of which device is more attractive. One thing that is very clear is that both devices are high-tech, very clean and tidy. They both offer stunning, premium and well-built designs.

However, the Google Pixel goes for a combination of aluminum and glass with a fingerprint sensor on its rear while the iPhone cherishes aluminum. The fingerprint sensor of the iPhone is strategically located within the home button on the front. While Pixel is water and dust resistant to IP53, iPhone is much stronger going up to IP67.

Google Pixel measures 143.8*69.5*8.mm and weighs approximately 143g while iPhone 7 measure 138.3*67.1*7.1mm and weighs 138g meaning that the iPhone is lighter and slimmer. Apart from having down-firing speakers on either side of its USB Type-C port, the Pixel still keeps the headphone jack intact while the iPhone has the headphone jack removed in favour of the lighting only and stereo speakers.

Google Pixel vs. iPhone 7: Camera

Both devices are manufactured with powerful front and rear cameras which make it difficult to pick the winner. The cameras of both phones are superb and can capture astonishing images. Both cameras can be used in a professional capacity. The Pixel has a powerful 12.3-megapixel rear camera which offers an aperture of f/2.0 while Apple’s iPhone 7 has a 12-mega-pixel rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8. Both cameras provide a stable and phase detection autofocus capabilities as well as a quad-LED flash.

Google Pixel vs. iPhone 7: Display

When it comes to display, Google Pixel wins, but the iPhone’s display is still excellent. The Pixel features a 5″ display with a pixel density of 441ppi. It is further protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and embraces AMOLED technology meaning that the pixel delivers rich and vibrant colours. These numbers indicate that Google’s Pixel delivers great viewing angles with a bright and sharp screen.

On the other hand, iPhone 7 features a 4.7 inch LCD with a resolution of 1334*750 which results in a pixel density of 326ppi.

Google Pixel vs. iPhone 7: Software

Pixel runs on Android 7.1, Nougat which features Google assistant built-in. The Nougat provides the latest features that Google can offer through Android complemented with a seamless experience.

The iPhone runs on iOS 10 which also brings the latest features that Apple offers its customers. It features Siri, a personal assistant which is accessed via a long press of the home button on the front of the device.

Both Google Pixel and Apple’s iPhone 7 closely match concerning specifications. Google’s pixel out-shines iPhone when it comes to display size and resolution, front-facing camera resolution and RAM. The iPhone, on the other hand, is superior when it comes to waterproof capabilities, storage options, and display functionality. The decision of choosing between the two devices boils down to the design and platform that you prefer.

All these depend on the time one uses online, the extent to which one explores the internet as well as the apps that have been installed.
