Can you please introduce yourself to our audience?

Nieuwenhuis: My name is Tim Nieuwenhuis I’m one of the founders of Workfast, I’ve been building and developing online platforms for 18 years and it is not only a job but a passion of mine so it is important that we get it right.

For those who are not familiar with Workfast, can you give us a brief overview of the company?

Nieuwenhuis: Workfast is an On Demand work platform where workplaces can find quality staff that are willing to work now. They can post a job and hire someone in a matter of minutes. The payments and time-sheets are all handled through the software making the whole process seamless and automated. Workers love it as they can work when they want and for who they want.

What inspired the start of the business?

Nieuwenhuis: Like all good ideas it is born out of necessity, my business partner Adrian Moschella and myself had problems filling staff last minute. We were always looking for new staff but the process of posting an ad and then sifting through resumes was tedious and never really gave us the right worker. With our system, you just post a job through www.workfast.com.au then select a worker that has been interviewed and vetted already.

What is your unique selling point or what separates you from your competitors?

Nieuwenhuis: We interview and pre-screen all workers, you pay for the worker directly through our platform. Our system is truly a marketplace for workers where they can bid on jobs.

What are the three biggest benefits of your business to your target audience and why?

Nieuwenhuis: We vet all workers so you get a great staff, payments and invoices are all handled through the software so it reduces admin time. And a great feature is hiring multiple people with different skills at different rates, so you can hire 3 workers all with different rates for the same job.

Looking out 3 to 5 years, beyond the obvious trends, what do you think will be the next big change in your industry?

Nieuwenhuis: It will evolve fast, as better technology and more imaginative solutions come in. I think a big change will the normality of working several jobs and the flexibility in working and getting paid through one or more platforms by multiple employers. The modality will evolve and create more jobs as staff will be available to fill those jobs.
