Essential Tools To Assemble A Computer

Looking to assemble your own computer? Here is a brief run down of the tools and accessories that you will need, to make the process quick, safe and effective.

Assembling your personal computer is far from being a difficult task. In fact, you can also save quite a bit of money, by assembling a computer system on your own – instead of hiring professional help for the purpose. You only need to be conversant with the right procedure to go about the job, and have all the necessary tools and instruments ready at hand. Which tools you will need for assembling a computer? That’s what we will list out in this article:

  • Cable ties – Assembling a computer is not a particularly difficult task – but that does not mean you can afford to gloss over the basic precautionary measures. Use sturdy, durable cable ties to properly organize all the wires and cables that would be attached to the monitor, CPU, keyboard – and the other components of the computer. Chances of sudden electrical shocks will be reduced significantly.
  • Screwdrivers – Gather screwdrivers of different head-widths and dimensions, so that all types of components can be easily attached to the motherboard. Preferably, go for the ones with magnetic heads, to rule out the chances of the components getting damaged.
  • Heat sinks – These are immensely important for ensuring that the processors of your computer function at optimal levels. The sinks come with labels that can be easily peeled off – making them easy to handle. Good-quality heat sinks can easily make sure that your computer system never gets heated up too much.
  • Pliers – Make the process of insertion/removal of relatively small parts and accessories on the hard disk of the computer, by including different types of pliers in your computer-assembling toolkit. Apart from the nose-headed pliers, you should also have a sharp, reliable cutter within easy reach. You might need to cut power cords/cables at any time.
  • Tweezers – The components that have to be fitted on the different parts of the computer are small in size – and any of them can accidentally slip from your hand and fall inside the narrow ports and openings. Keep a pair of tweezers ready at hand, for scooping out these components, in all such circumstances. Along with the cable ties, tweezers can also be utilized to keep the wires properly managed.
  • Canned fresh air – You are assembling a new computer, but that does not imply that all the components that are being used are completely dust-free. Stay away from the dangers associated with trying to blow away such dust and dirt particles with your mouth, and use canned air for the purpose instead. You should also have a few soft cotton cloths, to clean the different parts of the system.
  • Anti-electricity straps – Do you wish to get the ‘shock’ of your life, while assembling a computer? Of course you don’t – and that’s precisely why you should place these straps (also known as grounding straps) under the surface of the tools that are being assembled. You also should slip these straps on your wrists, to stay safe from sudden discharges of static electricity.

In addition to the above, you should also have a couple of knives and scissors in your toolkit, which might come in handy while assembling a computer system. All the above-mentioned tools, right from the cable ties to the heat sinks, are easily available and are not at all expensive either. Gather around all these tools – and build up your own computer. It ain’t a particularly tough ask!
