Digital marketers know that SEO is one way to generate traffic. But a smart marketer also knows there are other ways to increase your organic traffic and search results ranking besides search engine optimization. These marketers understand the importance of diversifying their strategies similar to how investors think about their investment. Investors scatter their resources to different instruments. When one of their ventures fails, they would still have a source to get their earnings.
The same goes for your traffic. When you set your business or website to generate traffic from one source, things could go haywire when there’s a major update or the platform fails you. If you to come out as a successful marketer or digital marketing agency, then you should start exploring strategies to improve your traffic besides SEO.
Social Media Activity
What’s great about social media is that it doesn’t rely on SEO to generate traffic. Thus, you can use your social media accounts to leverage your marketing strategies and target audiences. When using social media to attract users to click on your links or visit your site, you must ensure you are providing value without expecting something in return.
Moreover, you should be able to produce content that is buzz worthy or relevant to your target audience. Use tools to research and comb through trending topics on the Internet. Be sure to regularly publish content to build your readership and maintain follower count.
Guest posting or guest blogging doesn’t only attract traffic to your pages, but it’s also an effective strategy to build relationships with webmasters, bloggers, and publications. It requires you to reach out to people with blogs or websites that have audiences you would like to target. Before you can have your content posted, you must first establish trust. Hence, you must have at least basic communication skills if you wish to try guest posting.
Don’t worry because you can find several guides on the web on how to create an outreach email or how to pitch your content. What you must think about is how to craft an article that can hook their readers. Interesting titles, sharing your expertise and adding statistics are some of the things you can do to come up with a non-spammy guest post.
Make it easy for people to get to your website. You can get additional traffic to your site when you place your URL in your email signature. That way, your website gets additional exposure while helping more people access it without the hassle of typing.
Write about Others
Don’t talk about what you do and how you do it unless you’ve become successful doing it and you want to set a good example for others. Instead, turn the attention outward. Analyze what other people do, break them down or write a case study. If you already have a topic in place, you can include a thought or a phrase from someone else. Afterward, send them the link of your work and ask them to reshare.
Contests or Giveaways
If you want people to start talking about your website or pay attention to your brand, then you should hold a contest or conduct giveaways. People like to get free stuff. They are willing to exchange their information to get a chance to win the prize. When you have a contest or a giveaway, you get users to visit your site while growing your email list.
These and more are some of the techniques you can apply to grow your traffic without relying on SEO. When you think outside the box and explore other marketing methods, you get to expand your traffic sources and improve your outreach.

I like that tip about email signature. It doesn’t give you all the traffic you need but it makes email recipients curious and gives a little referral traffic from your email marketing. I like these simple hacks!
