Bangkok is well known for its vibrant nightlife. Interestingly, nightlife in Bangkok is not all about going to the clubs and dancing the night away. If club hopping is not something that interests you, you’ll discover that Bangkok has a lot to offer for people of different age groups and interests. If you are planning a trip to Thailand, find out what Bangkok Nightlife has to offer before writing it off.
Dress for a night out
Considering how hot Thailand is, it is not uncommon for tourists to wear shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. However, these outfits may work when exploring Bangkok during the day, but at night, you may be denied entry in some of the night spots.
In some places, the dress code is not an issue, but since the revelers dress up, you’ll stand out for not making an effort. Fortunately, most venues are heavily air-conditioned, so you can still look good as you dance the night away without worrying about being drenched in sweat.
Forget about dance floors.
Bangkok receives thousands of visitors, and most are interested in exploring the nightlife. So, the various venues maximize space by providing enough sitting areas. It is not uncommon to see revelers dancing close to their seats.
Since you will be spending most of the time close to your table, it is best to arrive early and get the best seating area. Getting a central spot means you will get served faster, and you get to mingle easily with other people, so you will have a more enjoyable experience than being stuck at the tables at the back.
It is cheaper to buy a bottle over shots of whiskey.
If your choice of drink is whiskey or vodka, you are better off ordering a bottle over buying shots. This will save you money and numerous trips to the bar for drinks, especially if the spot you have chosen is a popular one.
Since most of the nightspots have hundreds of people in them, especially during the tourist season, the servers may not reach you quickly, so you should get everything you need for the night when you get the chance to place your order. If a bottle is too much for a night, you can take it with you when you are done for the night or leave it for your next visit, if the establishment allows it.
Keep your valuables close to you.
When exploring Bangkok’s nightlife, always ensure you have your ID irrespective of your age. This way, you’ll be ready to identify yourself if you are asked. Most of the tables in most places have storage spaces to cater for some of your belongings, like small bags. However, like every other club in the rest of the world, you are responsible for your valuables, so you should keep them on you at all times.
Besides trying out some of the prominent night clubs in Bangkok, you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit a local Thai club. This could be a cultural eye-opener to how the locals have fun as they relax.
