We frequently come across videos that we would like to store to view later. Quite often these are mostly tutorials and how-to videos and sometimes there might be music videos as well. But all the same it always helps to know that you can check it immediately if you feel like it by storing it locally on your computer or mobile device. So we will be covering a list of download options that you can use to download videos from popular video streaming websites like YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Metacafe etc.
Internet Download Manager (Paid):
This tool is probably the best tool to get your videos really fast. IDM is able to grab videos from streams directly from almost all types of websites. Though not a dedicated video download conversion tool, this software is perhaps the most handy to download videos because it allows you to download at full speed on your system. The software uses plugins on all popular browsers to grab video streams from pages that you visit and download the videos. This means videos from not just Video Streaming websites but even your school website or office websites as well.
Keepvid:
Many times IDM cannot manage to pick up videos from video streaming websites because of restrictions. You may notice these on VEVO music videos and certain movie streams. This is easily circumvented with sites such as Keepvid. Keepvid may not be unique but it is the choice of the populace; mostly because of its simplicity of use and the availability of options. The site can also open up additional formats that you can download in such as, 3GP and WEBM. These formats are used in many players and mobiles even now and provide a great option that is available from Keepvid. The only concern here is that like most other video downloading sites, this one installs JAVA Applets in your browser and they come with major security issues including vulnerability to malware installation on your system. Thus, while the tool is safe it does have its vulnerability.
GetGo YouTube Downloader:
Although the name may be misleading, this desktop software for windows lets you download videos from YouTube, DailyMotion, MetaCafe online videos and converts them to your mobile devices such as iPod. It also supports as a variety of video formats including MP4, AVI, WMV, etc. The salient feature of this software is the ability to download from YouTube to mp3. You do not need to download and store complete videos if you are just in it for the audio. You can download directly to Mp3 and store the audio on your audio devices. The software also downloads and converts other video formats quite well and you can use different configurations to leverage between playback quality and file size.
Note to readers:-
By the terms and conditions of almost all popular video streaming websites, download of videos may not be allowed in many websites. Therefore, use the information provided in this article responsibly. The details of the software tools mentioned here are for the sake of general curiosity and are not intended to encourage any breach of any terms and conditions of any website(s) or author(s). Before IDM I always used Keepvid & Savevid website services to get the video downloaded. Now IDM goes paid so people would definitely turn towards these website services for getting things for free.

Thanks for this info. and for sharing your opinions. I actually downloaded RealPlayer as opposed to simply utilizing a website.. I like it because (it was free) it’s an all inclusive media player, editor and video converter. It’s a convenient alternative to downloading a bunch of software.
