3 SEO Trends You Should Know for Your eCommerce Store

As the algorithm of search engines is changing constantly, eCommerce entrepreneurs will have to update their websites accordingly. Here are three SEO trends that you need to know in order to succeed.

There are many ways to keep your eCommerce store up-to-date. For example, you can improve customer communication by installing a bot to your website or adding software to handle business operations such as small business inventory management to keep up with bigger competitors.

Anyhow, every maker and manufacturer that sells online knows that it is essential for their business to attract visitors – either through social media or search engines. While most people focus on SEO when they launch their business, it is also important to keep up with recent trends.

Here are three ideas that can help to improve the ranking of your website in the search engines:

1. Get Ready to Be Found via Voice Search

The way we’re using the internet is changing – while it was only accessible through computers around 15 years ago, nowadays we use mobile devices from anywhere in the world. Also the way we’re using search engines has changed with time. Recently, voice search has become more popular, considering that 16 percent of all Americans own a smart speaker, such as Alexa or Google Home. This also affects the language of the search queries, as 70% of the voice searches are done in a natural language instead of the keywords that people type in. So, one of the most important things will be the featured snippet spot, which counts as the so-called “zero-result” for the search engines and is positioned higher than any other search results in the query.

But, voice search doesn’t change that you should still pay attention that the most relevant keywords is in your headline, the URL and the title.

2. Improve the Usability of the Website

Not only do keywords affect the way your website gets ranked in the search results, but also usability and the loading speed of your eCommerce are important. Google’s algorithm takes into consideration how long it takes for a website to load and how easy it is to navigate.

Statistics show that 40 percent of people would abandon a website that takes more than three seconds to load. Furthermore, you should focus on the content on your website. If you are focusing too much on stuffing relevant keywords in there, and you forget about creating interesting content for your website, the time people spend on each page will decrease. This could affect your rankings negatively.

When improving your website, you should always have the experience for your customers in mind. Also, make sure that it is optimized for both users using desktop and mobile devices.

3. Security

This last tip is not only important for the rankings in search engines. As people are becoming more aware of the value of their data, they want to spend their time on secure websites. Therefore, you should make sure that your website has HTTPS in front of the address.

It’s a win-win situation for you, as your business will become more trustworthy to your visitors and search engines will rank your website higher in the search results.
