10 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do In Minecraft

Minecraft is one of the most popular games on the Internet, but there are many things that you may be missing out on that could take your gaming to new heights. Continue reading to learn about ten things that you can do in Minecraft that you probably weren’t aware of.

1. Put Torches on Crafting Tables and Furnaces

Many people are not aware that they can place torches on both crafting tables and furnaces if they first place a transparent block behind the table or furnace. Removing all of the solid blacks surrounding the area will also give you the ability to place a torch down.

2. Become Invisible to Endermen

A really convenient feature that a lot of people do not know about is the ability to become invisible to Endermen. You can do so by simply wearing a pumpkin on your head.

3. Break Sand or Gravel with Your Torches

If you strategically place your torches underneath any falling sand or gravel, it will work on breaking up that gravel and sand for you, provided that the gravel or sand falls as two blocks. Just hold the torch within your hand and then break the lowest block of sand. Be sure to place your torch right under the block as soon as you go to break it. This makes it a lot easier to excavate without straining your character’s body.

4. Become Resistant to Fire

A lot of Minecraft players also do not realize that wooden slabs are actually not affected by fire. These also provide a stronger resistance to strong blasts when compared to wooden planks. Therefore, if you are playing on a Minecraft server that has the fire-spread feature enabled, stick with the wooden slabs, as they will not catch fire like the wooden planks will.

5. Set Up Traps with Ice

If you place ice beneath soul sand, a character will be forced to walk more slowly over it when compared to plain soul sand on its own. If you want to make a really effective trap that could slow other players down, make sure you take your soul sand and add ice underneath it.

6. Do Damage with Your Bow and Arrow

Many players do not realize just how much power they have in their hands when they get a bow and arrow. It turns out that you can actually break both minecarts and boats with this powerful weapon. And if you break someone’s boat with your bow and arrow, you can get the same drops that you’d get by breaking that boat in the usual fashion. Also, when you end up breaking someone’s minecart using your bow and arrow, you will get a minecart, just as you would have if you were to have broken it normally.

7. Fuel Your Furnace Wisely

A single lava bucket can effectively fuel your furnace for a total of 1,000 seconds, and it can also cook a whopping 1,000 items within the furnace. You can use a single blaze rod to fuel your furnace for 120 seconds, and then you can also cool up to 12 items within the furnace. Use pretty much any item that’s constructed of wood in order to fuel the furnace. These items could include bookshelves, trapdoors, fences, chests, jukeboxes, and saplings, to name a few.

8. Design Something Really Unique

If you love using Minecraft to construct really neat things, consider the fact that regular and nether fences will not connect. Use these to make unique designs all your own.

9. Break Melons and Pumpkins Super Fast

Whenever you are in survival mode, just remember that axes will break pumpkins in the shortest amount of time, while swords will work best at breaking cacti and melons the fastest.

10. Trick or Trap Other Players

Finally, it is a good idea to also remember that any player who is found in a minecart while on a rail could ride right through a single block wall. Keep this in mind whenever you are trying to trick people who are on your rollercoaster, as well as when you want to create some traps.

There are a lot of Minecraft servers to choose from, but once you find the one that you like best, you can start enjoying this game in ways that most people miss out on by implementing the tips above. By knowing these tips and utilizing them as you play, you can gain a competitive advantage over other players and really take your gaming skills to new heights.
