Love letters… hmm… you do not see them these days, right? But when living in an age when trying everything ‘retro’ hails to be the in-thing, can there be any harm to turn back time and exchange those sweet words through writing? Of course, they need to be too emotional and mushy. Just a few honest words of appreciation coming straight from the heart- and the magic will be done. What is more, they can be a real keepsake for years. After all, anniversaries are the perfect time to recall and express everything that you like and adore about each other, yet do not often have the ‘time’ to convey regularly.

#2: Be Out And About, Together

Dalai Lama once said, “Once a year go someplace you’ve never been before.” Taking the cue from that, you can go out, hand in hand to a place where you have not yet visited. It is great if you can manage a weekend exotica (if you have both the time and fund to invest). Otherwise, even hitting a new coffee shop, or the bookstore, or simply popping inside and outside of the marketplace of a nearby shop can be well enough an option for an outing. The bottom line is to; after all, spend some quality time together, far away from the claustrophobic office cubicles and the engulfing four walls of your condominium.

Look for the events that the sports department or the theater department in particular, because they might offer you tickets for a football match, or a production, which would be fun to watch. Also, by attending such events you also render some real support to the local talents. This is a huge bonus to the youngsters. As for the cherry on the icing, you can virtually go back to the carefree college life, which can be a rewarding experience especially if you and your partner were college sweethearts!

#4: Try Doing Things Jointly

Try the following activities at home if you decide to keep your anniversary a real private, ‘in-house’ thing.

  • Prepare beer or wine; ensure that you get your kit well in advance.
  • Take a break; get out the bed late, prepare the brunch together, enjoy the meal and conclude it with some dessert or champagne.
  • Plan your finances and future.
  • If you are planning a home, then visit model buildings and open homes.
  • Create a playlist of your favorite songs and listen together. Watch a romantic movie afterwards.
