Mozilla has finally released the latest version of its Firefox Web browser. After a bit of delay, Firefox 3.6.4 can now be downloaded from the official Mozilla Web site.

What’s New?

Mozilla estimates that as many as one in three browser crashers occur due to problems with third-party plugins. As a result, the latest Firefox Web browser provides better stability feature that should make uninterrupted browsing possible for Windows and Linux users especially when a major plugin crash occurs, for example as a result of Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins. The browser also comes with an added “Crash Protection” system that will run plugins separately from the Firefox process, thus making it easier to close any affected tab or reload the page concerned. Therefore, if a plugin crashes or freezes, the “Crash Protection” plugin will prevent the crash from affecting the rest of browser and the users browsing experience. This means that users will still be able to reload Web pages so as to restart problematic plugins and try using the Web browser again.
Furthermore, Firefox 3.6.4 fixes the following issues which were present previous Firefox 3.6 versions.

Although the Crash protection mechanism mentioned above does not extend to Mac  computers, Mozilla expects this feature to be implemented for Mac users in Firefox 4. However, there is no specific schedule for other plugins to be added yet. The complete list of changes can be found here.
