UPDATE: Apple Confirms Software Fault In iPhone 4

iphone4repairApple has confirmed that complaints from users of the new iPhone 4 concerning weak network signals are not unfounded afterall. Owners of the new Apple smartphone have complained of loss of signal especially when the phone is held from the lower left-hand corner.

Apple says the problem is connected to a fault that causes the new device to incorrectly display the phone’s signal. The problem is believed to be related to an error on how signal bars are shown on the screen, rather than the signal itself. There are however suspicions from some industry experts that the problem is caused by a deeper signal problem as opposed to a design flaw.

Following this revelation, Apple has promised a patch or update that will be available for download within a few weeks although current owners are reminded that a full refund is available for interested users within 30 days of purchase. The question to ask however, is will changing the display really fix the problem or just painting over the cracks to save Apple from further embarrassment?

Talking Point

Now that Apple has confirmed that this is not just a problem caused by holding the device, especially for left-handed users, do you think that potential buyers will be turned away from purchasing iPhone 4?
