Apple Inc. fourth generation iPhone 4, has become the most successful product to be launched in the organisation’s history, in terms of single product sales. In the first three days since it went on sale in the United States, France, Germany, Britain and Japan, the new smartphone has sold more than 1.7 million units. This is more than what was obtained in previous models such as iPhone 3GS and iPhone3G, which sold around 1 million units respectively over their first three days in the market, while the original iPhone, launched in 2007, sold 1 million units in about 74 days.

Already, many stores in the United States and Britain are experiencing shortages due to the high demand for the latest iPhone device in spite of reception problems that was experienced by those users who have managed to get their hands on the phone so far. However, Apple has blamed the supply problems on pre-orders amounting to over 600,000 iPhone 4, which is also said to be responsible for technical issues that brought down their servers.

The sale of iPhone 4 is expected to begin in 88 other countries by September 2010 and has the potential of reaching many more thousands of iPhone enthusiasts. According to Reuters, Apple has now sold over 50 million iPhones since its debut in 2007 which has transformed it into one of the most important mobile phone company in the world today.
