Facebook Introduces New Profile Design for Users

Facebook has announced that it is introducing a revamped profile page for users, that will make it easier to tell their story and learn about their friends. The new profile pages will start with a summary of basic personal information such as job title, current location, languages, date of birth etc, in a more personalised way so that people can learn about each other more quickly. In addition, the new profile page will include a row of recently tagged photos of users as shown below.

Users will also be able to highlight important friends such as family members and team mates by creating new groups or featuring existing friends lists. Furthermore, the new profile will provide new ways to share interests and activities via image representation so as to provide a more compelling visual experience for visitors. In addition, the Photos pages will make use of a new “infinite scroll” feature that will make it faster and more fun to browse through all photos, with the inclusion of a more efficient search system.

According to Facebook, users who are interested in changing the look of their profiles can either do so now or wait until it is automatically changed for everybody in the next few weeks. As with all new designs, the new layouts will take some time to get used to but it will be interesting to know what the over 500 million Facebook users will generally make of it.
